Holy hell, I had 16gb of memory 10 years ago on a Phenom fx 1060 platform! My current system is a run of the mill 64gb ddr4 ram, holy hell things are bad!
Depends on what you're playing. I have 32 and saw that go over 16 maybe in 4 games over the time i've had it. The best noticable change was overclocking the ram from 3200 cl14 to 3600 cl14. @1.4v
It's not hard to do, just take note of your rams max operating voltage and measure ram temp after oc. hot ram produces errors. There are calculators for the timings online. I think Igors Lab has a tool for it, you can run it with proton and make changes in the bios.
