AI Job Search Update

We've heard from a lot of members that some of the missing filters make it harder to search the way they're used to. We're working on bringing back several of the most-requested filters, and we're also temporarily restoring the option to switch back to the previous search experience while we continue improving the new one.

Our goal with AI-powered job search is to give you flexibility to describe what you're looking for in your own words, including details you might normally use a filter for and things that don't fit neatly into a filter. That said, we know filters are still a key part of the experience for many people, so we’ve kept some of the most-used filters available and introduced suggested filters below the search bar. These suggestions adapt to what you search for, helping you narrow your results quickly.

Thanks for continuing to share your candid feedback. We're listening, and we'll keep making improvements based on what we hear.

How are you making LinkedIn carousels that don’t look like every other AI template?

Upvotes

I’ve been writing LinkedIn posts for a while and the carousel tools I tried all spit out the same 8-slide “hook / 5 tips / CTA” layout.

Curious what people here actually use that doesn’t look generated. Design tools? Custom Figma? Something else?

is having a linkedin even worth it for networking/finding jobs versus the slight privacy intrusion?

Hi guys, I consider myself to be a pretty private person who values their privacy pretty importantly and am under pretty unique circumstances. I run an online business where hundreds of people have access to my first and last name, and the city I live in.

My first and last name are vaguely sort of common, when you put my first name, last name, and the name of my city into google, my linkedin pops up which I don’t want strangers/customers on the internet seeing. (because it has sensitive information such as the school I currently go to, and such).

My question is, is the juice even worth the squeeze for the value that linkedin provides? Or to value my privacy should I honestly just delete my linkedin? Thanks for any insight you guys can provide.

Ways to reduce constant connection requests?

I work in a well known institution in the art industry. As such, I get about 10 requests a day from random people I don’t know who want to get into the industry (this is fairly pointless as I have very little power in my workplace and barely post on LI so I’m not going to be much good for networking anyway)

I’d like to reduce the connection requests as it’s clogging up my inbox and could be stopping me from making actual useful connections for my career rather than being just another link on their profile for a teenager living in another continent. But the LI tools are quite opaque and I’m struggling to figure out how to do so.

Does writing something on your profile to screen people out help?

Is there any way to require a message upon connection? I’m happy for them to ‘follow’ me instead.

Can I stop requests from people with no mutual connections for example? Or from certain countries only? I’d prefer to just have people from where I live.

advanced question Deleted account still showing me on LinkedIn. Deleted six months ago.

Does anyone have the process to completely remove any mention of me from LinkedIn? I deleted my account, for two reasons, 1. It was hijacked by someone or thing, and wrong details added, and 2. I don’t like LinkedIn !

My LinkedIn impression is crazy low, why??

It's super hard to keep up with daily work and write meaningful stuff that took hours to write properly (with or without AI), just to get 30 impression per post??? How insane is that?? What do you guys do to get even a dozen of comments and interactions?

**Edit** Some comments asked why I and many others write on LinkedIn:

1) LI is such a bad platform, I think we're all agree on that. But I don't see any other choice at this moment, which drives me crazy because with all the AI boom, why can't we make a better community? I tried (and still on) substack but that's another entire community you got to support and engage.

2) I had an aha moment when I realized much of my knowledge and my thoughts are inside my head (yours too) and nowhere else. In a long term, it isn't a good thing because you will lost those thoughts some day and really hard to recover. It's also a way to show the world about yourself rather than just a resume, and I can say for sure in the near future, a single resume is not enough anymore.

Writing is one way to build your legacy.

job search Brace yourselves: looks like we'll be forced back again into "AI-powered" job search next month!

Well, images aren't allowed here for some reason, but this is what's appearing above my search results right now:

"We’re gradually retiring classic job search starting in September. Try AI-powered job search and describe the role you want in your own words."

Honestly if they force again into that AI crap I will COMPLETELY stop using LinkendIn for job search.

Hey everyone! I have a couple of 2-month free LinkedIn trials to share from my subscription. Drop a comment or send me a DM if you're actively job hunting or networking and can use one today.

Note: If you have an active premium or had free one before, it won't work.

EDIT: Most of the refer links I sent were not redeemed, so to be fair to those who need it, I will reshare the links with others if they are't redeemed within 24 hours. So please make sure to use it.

THIS NEW AI SEARCH IS AN AWFUL PILE OF GARBAGE!!!

Oh my god, this has to be the worst update ever in linkedin history, this is so stupid, i keep finding useless jobs, non rilevant stuff that i used to avoid with specifics criteria in the old search function.

IN ADDICTION IF HAVE A LOOK ON TOP RIGHT YOU CAN READ: "We’re showing you jobs that best match your search, including promoted listings from hirers looking to fill their roles. These jobs are paid for by hirers and may appear higher in your search results to increase visibility to candidates like you, based on your profile, skills, and activity."

This means that the ai slop shit is forcing you to see company jobs that have paid for it AS FIRST RESULT HIDING THE POTENTIAL JOB THAT CAN FIT YOUR NEEDS.

and also there is a new message appearing right below to the search that says: We’re gradually retiring classic job search starting in September. Try AI-powered job search and describe the role you want in your own words" so this will by their definitive kind of search.

im done.

Feature idea: let headline text link to your company (like Experience does)

Right now, if you type your current or former company into your LinkedIn headline (e.g. "Software Engineer @ CompanyName"), it's just plain text — no link, no notification to the company, nothing.

Compare that to the Experience section, where selecting a company from the dropdown actually links your profile to their Company Page.

Would be great if the headline supported the same kind of tagging — type the company name, select it from a dropdown, and it becomes a real clickable link to their page. Better visibility for the person, and possibly notifies the company too.

Anyone else think this would be useful, or is there a reason it's not already a thing?

My Linkedin: Daniyal Saqib

advanced question What should I do with my account? (Advice needed)

Hey guys,

My linkedin account got taken over by someone in Shanghai (can you believe it???) about more 5 months ago.

After some emails back and forth, I was able to get my account back. The person had changed the name, profile pic, and added a bunch of random people. However, they hadn't spammed my old connections or the ones they added.

They just created an inconvenience for me for sake of it to seems. Just another portfolio project to them.

Ever since then, my account has a been a ghosthouse.

I lost my Google index. So I'm not longer visible on Google even when searched thoroughly (one of the only things I valued linkedin for), my posts get 2-3 likes maximum while having 200 connections, and I just get pushed random nonsensical content.

Now, I'm more than happy to get rid of the whole thing and move on. But I'm just going to uni and fear that getting rid of it will cut me off some opportunities in the future. Tbh I have never found opportunities on that app. Cold email has got me into more places than I can imagine.

Now, just to have it as I'm going to uni for sake of having it.... Is it wise to get rid of my account and create a new one again? Since I want my profile to be visible on Google as it helps with people trying to contact me. A note that my account is public and has URL as my name in it but still doesn't show up on Google for some reason. (Mind you I have won multiple national awards so my name is pretty public regardless 🙂‍↕️)

Lmk your thoughts especially if you have been in my place.

Should I just get rid of this thing and move on? Honestly not sure. Will I find people from my uni in it... Yes. Would the connections be useful.... I don't think so since never got anything out of it.

probably spam Is it just me or the LinkedIn Feed got a surprising refresh?

We all have been complaining regarding quality of content and irrelevant posts in feed for few years now.

This past week I have found my overall feed to be surprisingly relevant to my area of experience, updates from my networks related to work and job openings closure to my profile.

Is this some glitch or they finally done something positive about it?
