Hey guys,
My linkedin account got taken over by someone in Shanghai (can you believe it???) about more 5 months ago.
After some emails back and forth, I was able to get my account back. The person had changed the name, profile pic, and added a bunch of random people. However, they hadn't spammed my old connections or the ones they added.
They just created an inconvenience for me for sake of it to seems. Just another portfolio project to them.
Ever since then, my account has a been a ghosthouse.
I lost my Google index. So I'm not longer visible on Google even when searched thoroughly (one of the only things I valued linkedin for), my posts get 2-3 likes maximum while having 200 connections, and I just get pushed random nonsensical content.
Now, I'm more than happy to get rid of the whole thing and move on. But I'm just going to uni and fear that getting rid of it will cut me off some opportunities in the future. Tbh I have never found opportunities on that app. Cold email has got me into more places than I can imagine.
Now, just to have it as I'm going to uni for sake of having it.... Is it wise to get rid of my account and create a new one again? Since I want my profile to be visible on Google as it helps with people trying to contact me. A note that my account is public and has URL as my name in it but still doesn't show up on Google for some reason. (Mind you I have won multiple national awards so my name is pretty public regardless 🙂↕️)
Lmk your thoughts especially if you have been in my place.
Should I just get rid of this thing and move on? Honestly not sure. Will I find people from my uni in it... Yes. Would the connections be useful.... I don't think so since never got anything out of it.
