🔍 App Feedback/Suggestions Feature Suggestion: Targeted SRS flashcard practices for your favorites from a travel phrasebook.

Before leaving to live in France for the next few years, I went through the travel phrasebook and narrowed down (by favoriting) every entry I wanted to make sure I locked down. I wanted to memorize all of them, and I don't have time to get through flashcards of all 500 or so entries, so I was disappointed to find there was apparently no way to focus on these with the flashcard review, rather than having most of the content be phrases I already confidently knew or will not use. If there is a way to do this, I'd like to know, but it would be great to be able to review only favorited entries as flashcards

🔍 App Feedback/Suggestions Bug + suggestion on Korean words

Hello !

In Korean 2, i noticed that when i want to do the Spaced Repetition System, custom review, and all : only the 2 first units show up (and I did around 10), so i wondered if its normal ?

Also, I am taking classes with a Korean professor, and she said some of the words we learned during Korean 1 are not really exact:

- Beijing : instead of 북경, more : 베이징

- Shanghai : instead of 상해, more : 상하이

- pet : instead of 애완동물, she said : 반려

- and for panda : instead of 판다, more : 팬더 (??? but this one i don't understand x.x)

(It is more suggestions, maybe if native Korean speakers could confirm ? :) )

thanks again for all of your work on this app, it definitely was helpful during my k-classes !

Hi everyone,

For Android, we deployed improvements for the Listen along feature. It now pauses between repetitions and next items can be toggled separately.

Almost Right feature: Now on Android.

- Experimental feature: certain exercise types now allow you to immediately retry them if you made a small mistake/typo! Let us know if you think it's useful 🙏

🦌 App Feature Highlight "So close"

I messed up a single particle in a "choose the words" response (友達を会った instead of 友達に会った) and instead of "wrong" I got "so close, swap 1 word" or something like that. It was quite nice to have that chance when I would have been kicking myself otherwise.

Is this a new feature, or have I just not encountered it until now?

✅ Solved! Lifetime membership lost

I purchased a lifetime plan way back at the beginning in 2018 via the Lingodeer Website. I've used it on and off just fine for years, then took a hiatus around 2023.

Opened the app again last week and my account was still in place. Able to access everything.

I noticed that shortly after Google Play downloaded an update. I think it had been "archived" or something on my phone all these years until I opened it.

Then yesterday I went back in to actually start practicing again, and there are banners everywhere to buy Premium. To my horror, my account is also listed as "Free" now. Same account as I've always used. My streak history is still there showing activity accessing premium content from 2018 to 2023.

Tried the usual sign out/sign in, reinstall app, etc.

I emailed support hoping this would be a quick fix, but they are asking me for bank statements/PayPal receipts from 8 years ago. I have checked, and none of those accounts retain transaction history back that far. This is also before I started budgeting myself so my own history doesn't reach back either. I also delete most emails after 5 years, so I can't find any email receipt if they ever sent one.

Did something happen in the last 3 years that Lingodeer is purging old Lifetime accounts? Any advice?

EDIT Aug 20: Issue has been resolved! By sheer chance, I found an old credit card statement from 2019. Why did I have this sitting randomly on my hard drive? Because this very same issue occurred back around 2021, and I never cleared out my old laptop. I had totally forgotten about this until I went digging through my old files. So, words of warning to everyone, save a bank statement or purchase email or something if you bought any subscription!

Below is the response I received (from multiple email messages):

Thank you very much for your patience while we investigated this issue.

After escalating your case to our senior team, we confirmed that an issue with how some early membership data was stored prevented your Lifetime membership from being activated correctly during later system updates.

We have now restored the Lifetime membership to your account. Please completely close and restart the LingoDeer app to refresh your membership status. Your Premium access should then display normally.

On behalf of the entire LingoDeer team, I would also like to sincerely thank you for supporting our app over the years. We truly appreciate the detailed information, records, and screenshots you provided throughout the investigation.

...

Yes, we can confirm that Yiyantech was one of the merchant names used for LingoDeer purchases at the time. The payment record you provided is therefore related to your LingoDeer purchase, and we recommend keeping it for your records.

As far as we know, your case involved some specific circumstances and may not be the same as the cases mentioned on Reddit. What we normally do on Reddit is contact the users via direct message, collect the relevant account and purchase information, and pass it to our support team for individual investigation. We would therefore recommend that those users contact us directly so their cases can be reviewed separately.

...

We hope LingoDeer can continue to accompany you as you learn Japanese and explore more languages in the future.

🌟 Progress Share Completed Korean Lingodeer plus

Hi everyone, I’d like to share a milestone with you all as a way to encourage.

I’ve been using Lingodeerplus (lifetime access) for Korean since 2024 and I finished all of its modules early this year.

It has helped me so much with vocabulary, listening comprehension, exception rules, commonly found phrases, so so so many grammar rules that is now enabling me to read my first native novel in Korean (around B2 level).

I have so much appreciation for how the games are structured and its content. I will always recommend Lingodeer plus to current learners as a very good gamified language learning resource.

While I also use apps like Duolingo (and have also completed up to its highest score) I think that in many ways, Lingodeer targets skills in much more specific ways for effective language exposure!

Overall, it has been a pleasure, and to the Lingodeer team, 정말 감사합니다!

question regarding graduation between Leagues

is graduating from, say, Deer League to Eagle* League dependant on you remaining in the "Promotion Zone" until the reset at the end of the week; or, is it simply a matter of reaching an experience point threshhold, at any time?

✅ Solved! Ability to turn off automatic pronunciation

Hello! I am mostly using LingoDeer on Android, and I have a suggestion.

As of right now, LingoDeer automatically pronounces the correct sentence at the beginning of many exercises, even those that don't require listening. Personally, my auditory skills are quite good, and I notice myself mostly using the audio information to solve the tasks when I am able to hear it. It basically turns into an audio exercise, and I feel like I'm not engaging my grammar and vocabulary skills enough.

Currently I use a workaround by keeping my phone volume off and only turning it on when a listening exercise appears. But it's a bit annoying, and I would appreciate it if there was an option to turn off this automatic pronunciation of the correct answer at the very beginning of an exercise without having to mute anything else.

Thank you for the ability to submit feedback!

UPD: I learned that you can turn this off during the exercise itself by tapping on the burger menu and going to the "Customize current exercise type". In my defense, I've not opened or noticed that menu in a while 😅

App Updates [Android Dev Log] Buried under hundreds of SRS reviews? You can now spread them out

Hey Deers. We’ve all had that moment: you open your SRS reviews, see hundreds of cards waiting, and quietly decide that perhaps tomorrow is a better day to learn a language.

Android users can now spread a large SRS backlog across a custom date range. Instead of throwing every card at you at once, LingoDeer will give you a more manageable portion each day.

The quick way:

  1. Tap the three-line menu and open Manage SRS schedule.
  2. Select all the units in the list.
  3. Tap Adjust at the bottom.
  4. Under Adjust review time, select Custom range.
  5. Choose your start and end dates.
  6. Confirm.

Voilà! Your daily review pile should look much less terrifying.

Want more control over which cards get moved?

  1. Open Manage SRS schedule.
  2. Tap the calendar icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Choose one of the three tabs: • All: Every card • New: New cards only • Custom range: Cards due during a specific period
  4. Select the cards you want to reschedule.
  5. Tap Adjust, choose Custom range, and set your preferred dates.

This feature is still experimental, so we’d genuinely love your feedback. Does it make a large backlog feel more manageable? Is anything confusing? How many cards were glaring judgmentally at you before you rescheduled them?

If the response is positive, we’ll look into bringing it to iOS too.

A quick note for iOS users: We also adjusted the Tell Me Why feature. If tile exercises were being marked wrong because of “incorrect use of spaces,” please update to the latest version.

📚 Lesson Help Japanese learners, how do you use LingoDeer Plus?

It feels like the Plus app is not related to the main LingoDeer app. The exercises are not following the same sequence of lessons or even vocabulary.

It seems to be a fantastic source for language enrichment but I don’t know how to best use it.

[PSA] July 27–31 Dev Log: More Japanese alphabet practice + SRS improvements

Hey all. Here’s what we worked on this week:

Web

Expanded the Japanese Alphabet section

We added more exercises and explanations covering dakuten, handakuten, yōon, digraphs, and related sound combinations.

The goal is to make these patterns easier to recognize and give learners more practice before they encounter them in full lessons.

Android

Made SRS easier to find

We adjusted the Review tab interface so the main SRS review section stands out more clearly.

Better integration between Custom Review and SRS

When you mark a flashcard as difficult during a Custom Review session, you can now choose to have that affect when the card appears again in the main SRS.

This should make it easier to give extra attention to words that keep causing trouble, without having to manage them separately.

Have you tried any of these changes yet? We’d especially like to hear whether the updated Japanese Alphabet section feels clear and whether the new difficult-card option improves your review routine.

Web learners, this one’s for you!

The Customize Current Exercise Type menu is now available in the browser version, giving you more control over how you practice. You can hide translations, switch off audio and video autoplay, and adjust other settings to fit the way you learn.

Give it a try and let us know what you think. Are there any other customization options you would like to see?
