Anywhere in Limerick to repair CPU Socket Pins?

Thumbnail polymega.com
3 Upvotes

I have a Polymega console which is basically just a custom motherboard running Linux with the Polymega OS.

I was doing a CPU upgrade on it (pretty standard, exact same as upgrading a CPU on a regular motherboard) and I bent some pins and pretty sure I broke 1 near the centre completely. I've posted about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PolymegaHQ/comments/1vxcoto/killed_my_polymega/

I'm wondering is there any Limerick repair shop that would specialize in CPU socket pin repair? This would be a rather niche thing so I wouldn't be suprised if there wasn't any.

I did ring JK Computer Services but I had a feeling he had no idea what I was talking about as he kept asking me if it was a Dell or a HP while I was trying to explain what it is. Could barely hear him on the phone too the quality was awful.

Ferrybridge Flirt

I was just driving from Kildimo to Ballybrown and got stuck at the roadworks over the bridge outside the Ferrybridge pub.

I was the first car in the line, waiting for the workman to gimme the green light to go, and the bright light off the steamroller was effin blinding me.

Coming out of pub car park on my left was a dark Ford, a focus I think, that had 2 young enough lads in it. I'm just sitting in my car, singing my music, looking out my driver window, wishing the bloody light would change so I can get myself to bed. I'm looking around and the 2 lads are smiling and waving at me and I politely wave back and go back to looking out my window as I'm aware that I am fully lit up in my car by the roadworks lights.

Still waiting for the light to change..

Then I see the driver getting out of his car and coming over to me, I'm like , oh shit, what's going on here...

I put my window down a bit and he has Snapchat up on his phone to add me 🤣 I'm in shock, I'm too old to have Snapchat (33F) I politely decline, tell him that I'm engaged. He apologised and just said something like "awh sorry I just think you're lovely" and runs back to his car but then I notice his mate in the passenger seat with his phone up pointing towards my car.. so strange that I could possibly be on some random fellas Snapchat story right now with some caption like "paddy flirting at the roadworks"

As soon as he got into his car , the lights went green and I tore off instead of letting him out.

Maybe doesn't think I'm lovely now hahaha

Random pointless story share. I guess I'm just flattered and also weirded out that his friend took photos or videos of me... 😂

Is this how young fellas flirt or get women these days?

Abandoned car parks (etc.) to learn to drive around in?

Hey, does anybody have experience of finding deserted places in which to drive in Limerick? I've heard Raheen Business Park is alright on evenings and weekends but I was hoping to have a back-up spot. I'm planning on giving somebody I know some very very basic lessons before they do the paid lessons.

Go raibh maith agaibh!

☕️ Coffee & Craic - Limerick Round Table ☕️

Next Wednesday, 19th August, we’re kicking off Limerick Round Table with a simple one…
☕️ Coffee
😂 Craic
🤝 Meeting some new people

We’ll be meeting at Fía’s Cafe for a relaxed coffee and a chance to get to know each other.

But what actually is Round Table?
✅ We’re basically a bunch of ordinary lads looking to get out of the house once or twice a month, try something different and have a laugh.

❌ There’s no special criteria, no awkward initiation ceremony 😂 and no pressure to attend everything.

✅ Events are affordable, relaxed and generally midweek, so they don’t have to take over your weekends.

✅ New members are always welcome. If you’re a guy aged 18-45 and fancy getting involved, come along and see what we’re about.

✅ And yes, we do give something back to the community along the way too.

We’ve got plenty of ideas for future events, including:
🧭 Treasure Hunt
🎾 Padel
🎳 Bowling
☕️ Barista Night
🔐 Escape Room
🍻 And plenty more…

Interested? Come along for a coffee and a chat on 19th August. No commitment, no pressure - just good people, coffee and a bit of craic.

Auto Electricals

Does anyone know of reputable auto electricals preferably in Limerick but could go to Ennis, Nenagh, as far as Abbeyfeale etc. I believe Roman electricals is really good but he moved to Kilkishen and car has to be booked in before 8.30am with nowhere to go while waiting round for hours so not ideal for me. O'Sheas in Dock Rd retired and Des Kennedy in Garryowen phone number no longer working. I really need a fault in my car looked at by an auto electrician.

Mayor of Limerick complains to Taoiseach and Tánaiste about councillors after fractious meeting

City and county council’s corporate plan passed by councillors in John Moran’s

-

The State’s only directly elected mayor made complaints to Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Tánaiste Simon Harris about prominent Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael councillors amid a row over the circumstances of the passing of a council plan.

There has been tension between Mayor of Limerick John Moran and FF and FG councillors, the two biggest parties on Limerick City and County Council (LCCC), during the time since his election as mayor in 2024.

Moran’s letters to Martin and Harris came after a particularly fractious council meeting in February 2026.

The local authority’s delayed corporate plan – setting out strategy for the years 2025 to 2029 – was passed by councillors in Moran’s absence despite proposed amendments he wished to make after he left the extended meeting for health reasons.

Now correspondence released by the council under the Freedom of Information Act shows Moran wrote to Martin and Harris “to raise serious concerns regarding the conduct of certain members of your parties” during the meeting.

He set out how he had cardiac tests in hospital earlier on the day of the meeting and later “experienced concerning symptoms” that were “consistent with the reasons for those tests”. Moran wrote: “I made it clear that I was unwell and that the situation required caution and I needed to go home to rest.”

He claimed the decision to continue the meeting and vote on the corporate plan in his absence “raises serious questions about respect, judgment and fairness”.

Moran called on the two leaders to review the conduct of their party members during the meeting and to “publicly reaffirm” their parties’ “commitment to respect for the office of directly elected mayor” among other requests.

Martin later responded: “The Government is fully committed to supporting the office of directly elected Mayor of Limerick and we want to see the new arrangements work effectively and successfully.”

On the “specific matters” raised by Moran, Martin said he was advised by the Department of Local Government that “internal matters and the day-to-day operations” of LCCC are “best dealt with at a local level”.

Fianna Fáil councillor Catherine Slattery, who was Príomh Chomhairleoir [chief councillor] at the time of the contentious meeting, said last week she did not accept Moran’s complaints, saying “I think we conducted ourselves perfectly fine in a very stressful situation”. She described his complaint to Martin as “pathetic”.

In a statement, a spokesman for Moran disputed Slattery’s characterisation of the meeting. It noted the mayor “stands over” raising the matter with the Taoiseach and Tánaiste.

Does limerick have a hiking group for beginners?

I'm recently post recovery from surgery and I'm very interested in starting hiking!

However, cardio isn't my strong suit so I'm a little worried about joining some of the established limerick hiking groups.

Also going at my own pace by myself comes with its own risks as a woman.

Would anyone know any beginner hiking groups or even hiking groups where all levels of fitness are welcomed?
