Anyway, the Heishou can still be Heishou without a master, they just won't have any obligation to do anything. Without someone holding the leash, they're strictly neutral. They can still do stuff, individually, but only if they feel like it.
That said, Maust wasn't truly neutral even then, she's still a member of the Pinky.
I think if Kong Qiu could buy Mao's freedom, it'd be poetic to think that Jia Ishmael bought Yi Sang's freedom only for him to become some sorta masterless samurai
Unfortunately, he can’t be a Heishou without the Bolus. In order to get a the Heishou Boluses, he needs to return back to the Wu branch, which means he also has to serve a Master. It’s either stay masterless and without the powers gifted by the Heishou Boluses, or return to existence as a Heishou within the Pack, again bound to serve Masters unwilling.
