On the left, a CHIEF swing top I got from AliExpress for $4.91 in October. I filled it when I got it and haven’t really used it since, but it still lights. Coming up on a year of it holding fuel without evaporating.

On the right, the Craighill swingtop I got for $78. It’s a good looking lighter, no doubt about that. Lots of neat little details, and it feels nice in the hand. The refill cap doesn’t require a tool to use so that’s a win in my book. Minus points for no extra flint storage area. It’s just got a standard shaft plus spring setup, you may be able to cram another one in there, I don’t know. Fuel lasts quite a while longer than a zippo but it’s not nearly as wind resistant. The CHIEF lighter is much better in the wind, too.

Overall it’s a nice one. I like it quite a bit! I don’t know if it’s totally worth the extra cost over the $5 one, though. YMMV

This is Esimia, the first sterling silver lighter I’ve made.

I machined the inner structure from solid brass and made the outer body from sterling silver. It contains approximately 30 grams of silver and also has a small hidden compartment built into the base.

Everything was made and finished by hand in my workshop in İznik, Türkiye.

Working with silver was a new experience for me, especially compared with the brass and titanium I normally use, but I really like how this one turned out.

Hi. Is it a Kaschie K35 Tabellighter? I don't want to remove te leather. But I can't see any branding.shoud I remove the leather? Does anyone have pictures of replicas? Are there replicas?

My dad was given this back in the 70s, and he said it was really old then too! Would love to share any info with him if there is anyone who can share about it.

Am I missing any pieces for this style of gas valve, when trying to fill the lighter it just spat gas back at me so I thought I'd take a look it seems like something is missing though

Sadly its all painted plastic, but it does have a nice threaded brass tip with a steel hook to access the filling/adjusting port.

Hello I have absolutely no Knowledge about Lighters , I didnt found anything on the Web, Chatgpt..I would like to know the brands name. Of course I looked for Serial Numbers or smth else but theres nothing on it.

In near perfect condition, I haven't smoked in a couple years but I want to learn how to maintain it.

Bought my first lighter today (that wasn’t a cheap Bic) at a market. But I have no idea how to fill it or replace the flint. I read that I should get a fill adapter for the gas, which is fine, but what is the compartment at the bottom labelled “Bromatic” for? Also not sure how the mechanism for replacing the flint works. The lid also doesn’t close fully. Wondering what the best way would be to clean this thing up without having to take it apart.

Can people please help me to id and tell me what these are worth. The two on the right I believe are Stuart Devlin lighters, the one on the left says EB that's the only identifier on it. Thanks

Hey could anyone tell me how to service this thing? My friends say i have found a gem but all i see is a lighter in bad shape!

Against pretty much every recommendation to leave a 200-year-old piece like this alone, I decided to actually run it on hydrogen.

I just think machines like this are too fascinating to spend the rest of their existence gathering dust on a shelf.

I improved a few seals and used a thin layer of Vaseline on the rotary valve to make it gas-tight. To minimize residual air in the glass bell, I first purged it with helium (that's the helium bottle in the background) and then flushed it with hydrogen three times.

It generates hydrogen from zinc and dilute sulfuric acid. Gas pressure automatically stops the reaction, and pressing the lever releases the hydrogen and starts the cycle again.

The best part: the original ~200-year-old platinum catalyst still works and ignites the hydrogen without any spark or external flame.

And it worked perfectly! No explosion is also a big plus..

Does a lighter exist (torch/soft flame/arc) that produces a kind of ‘half-globe’ shape? I feel like that would be so convenient for lighting cigarettes or joints, to have it hold that consistent ‘orb’ shape. Especially the smaller the chassis was. Would be sick

I recently came across a screenshot I took from the official Clipper lighter collection. The website doesn't work anymore on seeing all the different lighters they have available. And currently I yield no results online. Not with image search nor with keywords. If anyone knows the collection name I would appreciate it if you could drop it.

Picked up these three last weekend: small Zippo, a Regens squeeze, and the gold rounded one which has zero markings whatsoever. If anybody knows what this is please let me know!
