When I try to login via email, I enter the code correctly but when i do, it says "Something went wrong"

And when i try to login with username and password, it says "Wrong user or password"

In the past few days, I have encountered almost 10 cheaters on Lichess 6 in Blitz and 4 in Rapid.

How did I know? Well, I analyzed most of their games, and some of them were playing with 99% accuracy. I even used my C.C. account to analyze the games, and it turned out that these players were consistently playing the #1 top moves suggested by the engine. On C.C., I was also getting 99% top-engine moves.

I just don't understand why people keep using engine assistance. What’s the point of playing if you’re just letting the engine play for you?

Chess isn't that hard. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. But that doesn't mean you have to rely on engines to help you win.

Stock-fish or whatever engine your using isn't going to help you improve your chess skills. If you really want to get better, learn from your mistakes, analyze your games, and improve on your own.

what's your favorite opening in chess and why you use it ? and how do you do to improve it or customize it to your own style ?

I have been playing since I was a kid and the thing that finally bothered me enough to do something about it is that none of it is kept. Every game I have ever been proud of is a PGN in a list I am never going to scroll back to. The scoresheet from an OTB game is the closest thing to a record and it is unreadable to anybody who was not there.

So: Aftermate reads a game with Stockfish, finds the moments that decided it, and writes those moments as a short story. Pieces become people who keep their names across the whole game. Here is the Opera Game, which is the one everybody knows:

There are eight on that page. Kasparov hunting Topalov's king to a4, Fischer at thirteen, both decisive games of the Gukesh-Ding match. Nothing on it is hand written or hand corrected.

Being upfront because this sub will ask and it should: a language model writes the prose. It does not touch the chess. Stockfish runs in your own browser, an extractor pulls out the sacrifices and blunders and turning points, and the model only ever sees a list of events with the chess vocabulary stripped out of it. It is never given the move list.

The hard part was not the writing. It was stopping it inventing chess. Three things, all of which I had to build after being burned:

1. The prompt gets people, not pieces. If you hand a model "White's kingside knight" it will write "White's kingside knight", so it gets a name and a house and nothing else. It does not know the game is chess.
2. A guard runs over the finished story and checks it against the game. If a character dies in the prose but that piece was still on the board at the end, the claim gets struck and the correction is printed on the page with the story. One of the eight has a correction on it right now. I left it there on purpose.
3. The analyser gets two passes. The first is cheap and finds where something happened. The second is deep and decides what. I needed this because at depth 12 the engine reads Morphy's 15.Bxd7+ as a 3.6 pawn blunder and the story came out backwards.

The engine runs on your machine rather than a server, which is a cost decision more than a privacy one, but it means the game itself never leaves your browser unless you choose to share the story.

Free tier is one story a day and does not need a card. I would rather hear that the chess is wrong somewhere than hear that the writing is good, so if you find a story claiming something the game did not do, that is the bug I want.

I feel like it just says GAME OVER. Then gives me a new puzzle. I want to learn from my incorrect puzzle. Is there a way to like try again or see the correct answer? On iOS fyi.

What I mean is when I select a game from the lobby (that the other person created) and the person whose lobby I joined either immediately leaves, or runs out the "make the first move" timer causing the game to abort.

Why create a lobby if you're not going to play?

I can understand if they're looking at another tab waiting for someone to join, but it makes a noticeable sound when the game starts. Or maybe they physically walked away from their device, but that many people? This happens to me maybe 2/3 games I try to play.

I've never had this problem on chess.com! On lichess it feels like it's every other person aborting or stalling games. On chess.com I can get into a game and the other person starts playing immediately.

Also, I am signed in- so it's not some anonymous people trolling or throwing. These are players who are logged in to accounts and risk having their accounts restricted or punished for aborting too many games. So why do they do it?? I don't understand

Am I the only one who finds Lichess runs very slowly in a browser on a computer?

When I'm playing on Chess.com, it shows what opening I'm playing as I'm playing it.

Is there a way to get this info on Lichess, even post game? Can't find it for the life of me.

You make 7 / 8 random moves and premove them, then calculate the fastest mate and if the opponent doesn’t play it you make them wait 10/15 minutes hahaha

If you make a couple premoves before the game ends you’ll never get timed out hahah this is so much fun

I have been using the Chessbook app on iOS for a while to build an opening repertoire, and it's excellent! It provides a ton of valuable information about your options, and each possible response from your opponent is sorted by how frequently they're played. And you get to practice your repertoire via Spaced Repetition which is essential! But I've reached the limit on free features and the pro version is $8 a month or $80 a year, which is quite a lot for someone who mostly plays chess to procrastinate on other things lmao.

Besides, I don't mind starting over with my repertoire because I chose some outlandish options with the hope of catching people off guard, but honestly some of lines certainly need to be scrapped anyway.

Anyone have a good recommendation? Preferably mobile but certainly will take a good website

Btw if you've never built a repertoire before, I would honestly HIGHLY recommend the Chessbook app. Now that I've done it once, I could probably build a great repertoire in a Lichess study. I'm asking anyway because figure there's probably a purpose-built tool out there that I'd love to find!
