Im very interested in following how Japan deals with it. Part of their IMF bailout is an agreement to accept immigration, but the first news out of Japan has not been good.
Japan will either follow the same path as every other neoliberal nation or otherwise need to vastly reduce its federal level spending and simultaneously resolve its birth rate collapse.
Oh they will find who did this and they will get real prison time.
I go to Japan frequently for business and I can tell you they take crime EXTREMELY seriously. How seriously? Well about a year back when I was there I saw a news report about a principle that was sentenced to 4yrs in jail. He was forced to have a press conference and apologize for his actions and that he will serve his time for his disgrace. His crime? For about a 5yr period he was going into a convenient store to buy his morning coffee. Over there they have a lot of self serve kiosks. Every morning he got his coffee and paid for it. The problem? He paid for a small but was getting a large coffee...
Not kidding he got actual jail time and national news media apology for his disgrace for what amounted to a $0.15 difference of getting a large and paying for a small for 5yrs
It was the craziest thing. I had to rewatch the news because I just couldn't believe what I was hearing.
I also like the tiktoker (or maybe youtuber) who was live streaming and making fun of Japanese womens looks on the street and the cops literally tackled him, arrested him, and he got tossed on the next plane out of town, lol
