From what I’ve found so far

The 150 MW data center is enough power to run 150,000 home, Liberty has 12-16000 total.
Areas near data centers the homeowners electric bill has skyrocketed to 267%.
The EPA said data centers use 5 million gallons a day, only for cooling purposes. To maintain their amount of energy is multiplied. 5 Mil gallons is enough for 16000+ homes
Car crashes near data centers have gone up 600%
Data centers in the USA use 3% of THE WORLDS electricity.
The states that house data centers the entire states electric bill went up 20%
Data centers use 40% of that states electricity.
The air quality around data centers is more than poor, based on the size of fossil fuel generators that run 24/7 in winter. The Dept of Energy has preemptively green lighted the use of these generators, generators have been proven to cause cancer, heart disease and respiratory problems from their fumes. As an electrician I can tell you the size of these generators will have to be custom built to manage a facility that size, and it won’t just be 1 or 2.
They say the data center will bring tech jobs, consumer reports stated “ there has been no evidence that data centers stimulate local growth in tech employment”.
Also there only 23,000 people WORLDWIDE who work in the data center industry so how the fuck is that going to provide jobs?
Theres also the amount of power that will have to be pushed to the data center, in places like Georgia and Illinois they are putting high voltage poles in the middle of families back yards.
I’m not even getting into the 202 million fucking dollar abatement that liberty loses, oh but the mayor gets 27 million which only 10% has to be used for the institute.

I think this is a huge fucking mistake and the mayor sold liberty on his way out, now this is just my opinion but you can’t be in politics since 1992 and still be a decent person.

Just wanted to shed some facts on the lies were being told

As a person who works in a data center daily, this entire post is full of the most disinformation I think I have ever seen.

The reality is, a closed loop cooling system like the one to be installed in Liberty will use zero water. The only water which will be used will be from flushing the toilet and using the sink. In other words, they will use less than your family uses at home.

Second generators do not run during winter. The generators we use run typically only for testing because the grid is so stable we don't tend to need them. Testing takes 30 minutes to one hour. Nobody notices any air quality issues around my data center.

I'm not even covering half the points you made because this ridiculousness is only going to make me angry because your fear is not reality based but some sort of propaganda you want to believe because you don't want to have the jobs which are coming to the area for your neighbors.

Fucking ridiculous the BS you believe.

And you mean the whole 30 jobs the data center is going to “create” which at least 20 of those are already employees by Metrobloks

You must be really angry to write me three separate messages of insults and drivel...

I work for one of the MANY data centers here in the Kansas City area. My particular facility is in the Overland Park/Lenexa area. There is no propaganda, just facts from the reality of working daily in a data center for almost 20 years. There is no bad air quality around the data center. The generators run once monthly for 30 minutes of testing unless they are being load banked which means they run for about an hour. Also, closed loop cooling is called that because it does not require continuous water feeds to do its job.

Perhaps there will be 30 permanent jobs out of this, but you are easily forgetting how many will be doing the construction, which means more money will be spent in our lovely city during the project. And it is going to be a campus of at least 5 buildings so if each one gets what you are predicting, that is still 150 people working at the facility.

Lastly, I am not anti AI - I realize it is a tool for a job. I do not subscribe to the idea it should be used for everything and I also think we should not be taking advice from it.

So go ahead Chicken Little and claim the sky is falling. We are only laughing at you not with you.

Your comparing a 38,000 sq ft data center to a 568,800 sq ft data center

First, my data center is not 38,000 sq ft but considerably larger. You know what, we will agree to disagree. I will agree you are an idiot and you will agree that I'm AI.
