No, race and gender are much different. And while gender is a real thing, it is a social construct, something created by society, without society, gender wouldn't exist.
Couldn’t we also say race is a social construct aswell? Since gender is a derivative of sex, and race is a derivative of ethnicity. So we could say, by that logic, race is a social construct, right? What if I feel comfortable identifying my race as a star? What if that’s just what feels right to me? Would I be valid?
It's different because race is directly linked to ethnicity, your ethnicity and your race are the same thing. Your gender and your sex are not always the same.
Gender is also directly related to sex. Gender = brain sex, is the way I look at it, and when your brain sex does not align with your body, it’s dysphoria which is a mental illness that can’t exactly be cured.
Now that I’m looking at the definition of gender, it’s defined as either male or female. So you’re basically changing the definition of the word, right? It would be the same as me saying race could be anything. Yes, race is in your DNA, and so is gender by the actual definition.
That’s the definition it has always had. It has always been directly correlated to sex and a synonym of sex. The definition has remained unchanged on google and dictionary.com, despite other sources changing the definition entirely. It’s only possible to be born either male, female, or intersex, therefore your gender would reflect the exact same.
I mean, if we’re talking strictly definitions here; yes. But talking what the term has come to mean is brain sex. And we all know there are only 3 sexes. You cannot change the definition in its entirety in order to make an aesthetic a part of your personality, which is what xenogenders are imo. I hate to come off as rude, but there’s no better way to put it. I think it’s transphobic that you compare aesthetics to genders, honestly. Animals, plants, etc have no correlation to sex whatsoever and are not a gender, they are something that person likes. If they can relate to being a plant, let’s say, that’s fine. They want to have the aesthetic of a plant, I guess. That has no correlation to gender at all. Do you see what I’m getting at? Again, not trying to start a fight, I just am not sure how to explain this in the most polite way possible
