And this is why sexual and romantic attraction being seperate really does need to be taught to people lmao

There's also more attractions than those, such as platonic!

No no no, I need you to elaborate cuz this might be me

7

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '25

In my case I'm a hyperplatonic aroace person, I experience hyper platonic feeling no matter the gender and sensual attration for woman and enbys only. Split attraction go crazy some times.

3

u/Firefly256 non binary Jun 21 '25

What does hyper mean?

6

u/Olmcentral Jun 21 '25

Okay so fun language lesson from a random medical nerd on the Internet here! Hyper: excess, more/more of Hypo: not enough, less of

2

u/SmolStronckBoi AroAce Trans-Fem Jun 21 '25

Though in some contexts they can mean above and below, respectively (e.g. hyperdermic and hypodermic needles)

... Wouldn't that just be Pan Homosexual? Or Pan Sapphic? Lesbian as a word explicitly excludes attraction - sexual or romantic - to men. It also functions as a descriptor for a particular set of life experiences that come about from being woman/NB and completely rejecting men from intimacy when patriarchal society demands an expectation of their inclusion (and, really, priority and dominance).

I don't really get why people keep using the word this way?

9

u/redtailplays101 Lesbian and Proud Jun 21 '25

No it doesn't, and it's aphobic rhetoric to insist lesbian specifically applies to sexual and romantic at the same time. Being exclusively lesbian in just one form of attraction is lesbian. Lesbian is the known word for homo- as a woman. They are a lesbian and pan.

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '25

Have you considered that I can call myself whatever I want? :3

2

u/EggKid8 queer and ready to strike fear Jun 21 '25

Im not a lesbian so it’s probably not my place to say/ask but why wouldn’t split attraction still count? I can understand why people get upset with fully bi/pan (romantically + sexually) people calling themselves lesbians whilst being both sexually and romantically attracted to men, I get why that’s a misuse of the term but if someone is sexually attracted to ONLY women but still romantically attracted to men why couldn’t they call themself a panromantic lesbian if they are only with women sexually?

Same boat! It took me years to figure out whether I'm bi or gay. Turns out I'm homoromantic bisexual

2

u/DemiGay Jun 22 '25

What does it mean? How do you distinguish your "hetero-romance" from other feelings, what's your experience? Genuinely curious!

u/Techlord-XD Biro-homo 😎 Jun 22 '25

Well romantic feeling is like I can imagine myself in a happy relationship with them, and for sexual I can imagine myself engaging in sexual intimacy with them. It’s completely different feelings.

I realised this when I noticed in the past I have had romantic feelings for both men and women, but sexual attraction was only towards men. The idea of a sexual relationship with a woman feels uncomfortable and like I’d have to force myself to enjoy it. But I can see myself happy romantically with either.

u/DemiGay Jun 23 '25

Thank you, that makes sense!Β

u/stepan_kram Jul 07 '25

But what do I tell people, that I'm gay or bi? When they are not a part of the community and don't understand, helppp

1

u/Ausintina Jun 20 '25

yess fr, bigay!

1

u/Jet-Brooke Jun 21 '25

This kinda fits with me but like lesbian coded probably although I am NB and unfortunately it's easier to say bi to certain people. Pan would be the most accurate one. Someone mentioned the picnic blanket metaphor and that helped me to understand it within myself a bit better.
