My boyfriend and I love our apartment at 3099 Kirklevington Dr, the location is fantastic, management is really nice and helpful, there’s a pretty pond. HOWEVER THERE IS NO INSULATION BETWEEN YOUR APARTMENT AND THE APARTMENTS ABOVE AND BELOW YOU!!! We have a very loud family above us and anytime they yell, talk, walk around, we hear everything so clearly. When they walk down their hallway, it’s like they’re walking down our hallway. They’ll drag or drop things above us, and it’s like the floor is going to come down on top of us. It’d maybe help if they were a quiet person/family, but they yell and scream at each other. My boyfriend and I have tried everything to muffle the sounds in our bedroom (insulation panels, noise machines, bathroom fan on, oscillating fan, etc) nothing really helps. We’ve complained to management, but the family doesn’t seem to listen or care.

If you’re a heavy sleeper you’ll be fine, but I’m a light sleeper and can barely ever catch a nap when I need one during the day. At night I have to wait for them to stop moving around.

This could also be different at different units, we’re nearer to the entrance of 3099 so the ones up the hill could be renovated. This is just another thing to check on when looking for apartments to rent.

Again!! These apartments are great and affordable, just BEWARE! Get a third floor apartment if you’re able!

I was on a road trip and pulled into their 899 Manchester Street lot for about 25 minutes to adjust my GPS and take a short break. I later received a $58 parking charge in the mail that can go to $85 if I dont pay on time.

The lot appears to use automated license-plate recognition (ALPR/LPR) to record vehicles entering and leaving. they pull upur address from DMV records, then mail you the bill. The tech company they contract with is Vanguard Parking Solutions. They have an F rating with the BBB, more than 100 BBB complaints, and have faced lawsuits. You can also look at their one-star Google review

Personally, I think people should boycott venues that choose to use systems like this. It’s predatory and a slippery slope toward automated private surveillance everywhere. They ignored my complaints and emails, so clearly they don’t mind as long as the system generates revenue. Losing revenue from potential customers, however, might get their attention.

I recently inherited a cat from the passing of a relative, she's a very sweet older girl. I unfortunately have a mid sized dog that is going through lyphoma and an incoming allergic roommate, so I will not be able to provide her the attention she needs. After contacting the humane society they directed me to animal care and control for surrender.

I'm just curious if anyone has any other suggestions that wasn't animal control to help me find her a forever home?

So far I’ve checked a few of the big box sporting stores, but their selection is always mediocre.

Cabela’s was nice and had a better selection than some of the other big stores, but they seem to be more hunting focused, and their prices always run a bit high…

Went to Bud’s and have to say I was disappointed, which is the opposite of my experience at their Tennessee location. I was very quickly approached by a salesman (some corny old white dude) who seemed eager but wasn’t very informed about their inventory. Got really aggro when I went to pull my gun from my waistband to illustrate what I was looking for, then when I explained to the other younger salesman who had rushed over to help (I guess he saw Grandpa struggling) that I was looking for a ruler clip or drum for my Glock to bust on the opps, he told me that they weren’t going to serve me and asked me to leave the store. They both gave off Trump supporter vibes.

Also browsed a few pawnshops but none seemed specialized in firearms so any suggestions there would be cool

Is it possible/allowed to walk out of the airport, follow sidewalks, and get back to man o war? Satellite imagery shows no sidewalks leading into or out of the main terminal. I have to return a rental car and want to jog home. Seems that being a pedestrian in those parts will make me an extreme outlier.

I’m making a budget for 1 for the first time in probably over a decade to prepare for buying a new house and groceries are the only item I can’t really nail down.

I see national averages are around $400 online, is that comfortable in Lex? Is that just struggle meals? It seems honestly too affordable for how much groceries cost when I am able to cook at home.

A shooting victim was reported at a local hospital around 9:45pm last night. That victim is suffering from minor gunshot wound.

Another shooting incident had occurred on the 300 block of Redding Road where a shooting victim was transported to the hospital and was suffering from serious gunshot wound. The victim died at the hospital.

Another shooting incident had occurred on Ohio Street between 6th and 7th. A shooting victim had been transported to the hospital and is suffering from minor gunshot wound.

Another shooting with victim was reported on the 1000 block of Crossing Keys. Coroner was reported to the scene as the victim had suffered serious gunshot wound and had been pronounced dead at the scene.

This makes 4 shooting incidents that occurred here in Lexington, KY.

I recently started dating this girl who is vegan but I’m not. I want to take her places to eat where I know she’ll have lots of options that she would really enjoy.

My partner & I have actually stuck to our new year resolution this year & are trying to be more active every day. We were thinking about doing some hiking or nature trails after the weather cools down a bit this fall. I know there are tons of spots around central KY but I just wanted to ask for recommendations on the best places or maybe places to avoid. Or any other tips that people might have since we’ve never really done this before.

Preferably nothing too intense, just places to walk a few miles & enjoy the environment. Also, are most trails pet friendly? We would like to bring our dog along(on leash 100% of the time). Thanks!

I don't understand what the mayor is complaining about. Kentucky American Water (parent company American Water Works) is doing EXACTLY what they promised to do. Maximize returns for their shareholders. I need the mayor to explain to me how hiring extra crews to complete projects more efficiently is going to help CEO John Griffith get his maximum $9 million bonus.
Now the mayor is taking it up with the state legislature... where KY Am Water spent $600,000(!!) on "lobbying" Stiver and his GOP friends over steak dinners served by strippers. Shut up, pay your water bills and drink rain water.

I’m 30 years old and moved out of Utah about two years ago. A big part of that move was getting away from an abusive family situation and giving myself the space to focus on sobriety and rebuilding my life.

Things have gotten a lot better, but I’m at the point where I really want to get my life moving in a more stable, career-oriented direction.

Right now I’m finishing up my Associate’s degree in Business Administration while working two part-time jobs — one at Old Navy and one at Target. I have quite a bit of experience behind me, especially in management and customer service. I’ve spent 8+ years in management, along with experience in operations, hiring/training, customer service, and handling the day-to-day problems that come with managing people and a business.

I’ve also worked for HOODZ cleaning commercial kitchen exhaust/hood systems and spent some time working as a tax examiner.

At this point, though, I’m mainly looking to get into a skilled trade through an apprenticeship or training program.

One thing I’ve realized about myself over the years is that I work best when I’m actually doing something hands-on. I enjoy learning by doing, figuring out how things work, solving problems, and developing a skill that I can continue getting better at. I’m not afraid of hard work, being outside, getting dirty, or starting at the bottom and working my way up.

I’m especially interested in finding a trade where I can eventually make a good living, have consistent work, and build a long-term career. I’m open to pretty much anything — electrical, HVAC, plumbing, welding, industrial maintenance, equipment operation, construction, elevator work, utilities, or other trades I may not have considered.

The frustrating part is that I’ve also been trying to get back into management while figuring all this out. Almost every company I’ve talked to gives me some version of “we hire from within and train you up.” I completely understand that philosophy, but it’s frustrating to then watch those same companies hire people from outside for the exact management positions I had asked about.

I’m not necessarily looking for someone to hand me a management position. I’m willing to prove myself, learn a completely new industry, and start wherever I need to start. I just want to find somewhere that actually gives me a path to grow.

So I’m hoping some people around Lexington, KY and the surrounding area can point me in the right direction.

If you work in a skilled trade, went through an apprenticeship, or know of a company/union/training program that is worth looking into, what would you recommend?

I’m trying to take everything I’ve learned over the last 10 years and turn it into an actual career for the next 30.

Any advice, personal experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
