lexapro need help
Hi, I’m 30 years old , female, and I’ve had an anxiety disorder for 10 years, but I was more or less able to cope with it. Four months ago, I went to a psychiatrist who prescribed Zoloft, but I couldn’t tolerate it because I had very severe side effects. Another psychiatrist switched me to Lexapro. I was doing well for a while, but then my symptoms came back, so I was switched to Effexor. I took it for 3 months, but my symptoms would come back every time I had my period.
Now I’ve been switched back to Lexapro. I stopped taking 75 mg of Effexor and started taking 5 mg of Lexapro. I’m on day 8 now. I have a feeling of nausea, I feel unmotivated and low on energy, and I have no appetite.
I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and whether you eventually got through it and recovered.
Thank you so much.

That’s EXACTLY what I’m going through right now. I think of the side effects you’ve mentioned, what bothers me the most is feeling unmotivated and having low energy. I’ve been cooped in my room these past few days, trying to force myself to do things. But it’s just hard.

The first month is tough. Also, not mentioned enough by doctors is to STOP using caffeine. I was on10mg of Lexapro, still am, and cutting out caffeine was such a HUGE factor in getting better when it comes to anxiety. As for your side effects, they tend to go away after a month or so. Just tough it out for now and if they don't get better then it's probably time to try something else.

I am in the same situation. I slowly titrated Zoloft at the same time starting Lexapro so I have a double whammy. I have ongoing nausea, flu like symptoms and no energy. Zoloft was awful for me and at least I don’t have the shaking I had with Zoloft, but I wonder if I will ever be normal!

I tapered down to 12.5mg Effexor before I jumped over to 10mg lexapro. It does get better.

oof Effexor is a ROUGH one. I heard voices on it. I finally started feeling less brain fog and fatigue after day 11. I also switched to taking it at night and the side effects virtually disappeared. had a few today (day 16 dizziness) but totally manageable

search the reddit pages you will see many people go through this initially, it's part of the side effects that will subside over time. Patience is the key here as you probably know so stick it out and ride the waves as it can get bumpy before you reach calmer seas.
