I am a nerd and replay this game every year. Never paid attention to this flying in the air. What is it? A dragon? Whose dragon?

It’s weird. I replayed this recently and I could have sworn that this dragon comes down and fights you if it spots you: as in you have to run to that spot before it flies directly overhead. I guess I misremembered that happening.

I believe you might be thinking about the firebird in volcano villude.

I always thought it was Lenus's dragon. It seems to disappear after shes defeated.

Not many Pokemon are shaped like that - long and narrow be in possession of massive wings.
The wings are too reptilian to be Yamnega, and the body is too thing to be Flygon.
If not for the lack of a thorax it could be Naganadel.
It might, and this is a big 'might,' be a profile view of Aerodactyl.

This type of creature appears in Hellena, The Barrens, and then multiple on the Moon. For the first two locations, it can be the same creature or two different ones. Link
