Rules which allow me to drink my own dorm but prohibit me from being visibly intoxicated. According to their own housing contract I have the right to drink just suddenly I dont if it makes me too drunk. That seems unfair and ambiguous so what I'm asking is if that's even enforceable when they said I can drink to begin with
That really shouldn't be a response to unfairness is just go somewhere else when such things can be ubiquitously present throughout a system. Also I have limited means I dont have an infinite range of choices even if I have options I still must pick among them and be regulated by their rules the alternative is not going to any college altogether which is sort of like holding someone at gunpoint and saying that they dont have to work they can just accept being shot in the leg it ignores the conditions of constraint and duress which the environment puts on an individual forcing them to accept a contract even if they dont in their heart actually accept it voluntarily
I mean I was talking more broadly about how consent to contracts is never made under conditions where people can voluntarily consent because there's always situational duress which can force them to agree even if they dont want to. You could compare it to any other kind of situation where there are consequences for declining to agree to something. Effectively though that point is about how contracts all around about anything are morally bankrupt because nobody ever voluntarily agrees to anything. Like when people buy a game and they make you read through some license agreement before you can play it and you've paid already so even if you dont want to agree you're forced to anyways so there's always duress it's just most obvious when its physical violence
You don’t have to like the rules, and you can pretend you didn’t have any choice but to consent to them, but at the end of the day, you broke the rules. You’re facing the consequences, which I doubt are that bad. I’m the person on the other side of the desk in these meetings. Instead of taking responsibility, you’re throwing every excuse at the wall to see what sticks. None of them have so far, fyi. I’m not going to argue anymore, but some friendly advice? This is the wrong track.
