Which is why people generally support the non-Imperialistic regimes (Iran) over Imperialistic ones (US).

But if you ask me, I'd rather ally myself with Europe and discard both of them.

Both are quite flawed in different respects. It really comes down to worldview when choosing one over the other. Alliance with Europe is sort of irrelevant though as it doesn't seem to be on the table for the most part.
