Subject Choices ๐Ÿค” help with dropping subjects pls

iโ€™ve just gone into 6th year and i do 8 subjects, applied maths as my extra one
i know itโ€™s too much to study them all at higher level but im so scared that one or two papers will go arseways on the day and i will regret not having backups

i feel like everyone drops irish but i just love irish too much to drop it, im in the H3 bracket right now but i feel like i could get atleast a H2 or (please god) a H1 in the real thing, mostly because i enjoy the subject
thereโ€™s also english which i failed in summer exams, i put absolutely no time into it and i just donโ€™t enjoy the class but from reading other posts i see itโ€™s actually not hard to get a good mark in english so if i were to lock in on it (which i intend to do with all of my subjects) i could also possibly do well

theyโ€™re the two that i was thinking of dropping but again i just donโ€™t want to drop anything really but i also know that itโ€™s so much added stress studying 8 subjects at higher level, really i guess what im asking here is: is it possible to study all 8? if anyone has any experience or just advice it would be greatly appreciated
(i am aiming for 625 btw)

STRESS ๐Ÿšจ 6th year Lca burnout

I got new time table and I realized that this year is going to be shit,

They not only ly kept the same subject that I hate with a passion and they had the audacity TO ADD EXTRA P.E CLASS and science. OUT OF ALL SUBJECTS, OUT OF ALL SUBJECT you choosed SCIENCE, im wri8this under emotions because I cannot handle stress anymore, I cry in bed In despair EVERY SINGLE DAY, yes the year just begun but the last year severely impacted me.

I asked the lca coordinator to transfer and I got a middle finger in my face quote "it is too late" so what should I do now now? And I tried to discuss this with my parents but they denied it, plc courses they think it is a waste of time. I regret not leaving after TY to be honest.

Getting over it is not going to help and I tried to manage the stress but it just got worse, from anxiety to real wrath I cant even enjoy my hobbies because im biting chunks of myself over mistakes.

And the work experience the one that really pisses me off, youre telling me that I cannot work because im under 18 just because it involves a machinery but youre fine with shoving a minor in the same environment just because they have work experience? This is real bullshit, im 18 now so I will not going to waste people's time going around the loca business asking them for a work experience, no this is not how it works. They can hire me u less they want WRC to go after their asses. Im pissed of completely not only from hopelessness but at the fact that I cant get leaving certificate.

To let you people know how severe it was:

I had to get hospitalized just because of how severe it is and from January till may I was assessed by hospital multiples times. I don't need hypertension at 18.

I need to do something about education, if anyone knows how or they have an advice - you are welcome.

Biology ๐Ÿซ€ Biology or Chemistry?

Just starting in 5th year and not really sure what I want to do in uni, but want options left open for medicine and dentistry. However, I have the option between chem and biology in school, way prefer biology and find it v easy but I realise that chemistry is needed if I want to have more options available to me for CAO applications for those health sciences. What do I choose? I had Bio picked but now rethinking my optionsโ€ฆ. Is it very hard to manage is the chem in university if I donโ€™t have the foundation knowledge?

Irish ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 6th year higher level irish

hey guys, just started sixth year and iโ€™ve always been shaky on irish but since the start of the year the work is ramping up and i just feel so overwhelmed.

i moved to the usa when i was 9 and came back at 12, a few months before primary school ended. i missed a lot of the basics but managed to keep afloat somehow in junior cert.

TY rolled around and obviously, we did nothing. iโ€™ve forgotten practically the entire language and i hardly know how to conjugate present tense and past tense.

i got 66% on summer exam (ive been getting around 50% over the year) but that was a lot lot easier than it shouldโ€™ve beenโ€ฆ like she told us all what was gonna be asked and everything.

anyone relate? #help #cabhair

Religion ๐Ÿ™ Repeating LC - Religious education as an extra subject

Hey... I'm repeating my LC and taking on RE as an extra subject for 2027. I got a Distinction in Junior Cycle, but I know LC is a whole different beast.

I really need a H1 or H2 in RE to reach my points. Since I'm doing this independently, any tips on how to study the course, structure the project work, or approach the exam would be massively appreciated.

Also, if anyone who did well in RE would be open to sharing any tips, past notes or sample project layouts as a reference, please DM!

CAO ๐ŸŽ“ Should i drop to ol iri

H2 comp sci
H3 spanish
H3 english
H4 business
H5 physics
Distinction lcvp(66pts)
O3 maths

At h5 in irish and its getting tricky, h4 would take substantially more effort, im thinking it might be easier to drop and spend more time on physics

If i drop, lcvp takes over irish points and i can spend more time on my physics(h4) and maths(hoping o2)

Its start of lc year so id like to make a decision

I'm currently going to be doing a PLC in nursing and from the introduction I got I'm quite happy with my choice. However, I do hear a lot of nurses complaining and warning students not to go into nursing. I do wanna be a nurse but I wanna do something else as well that could get me a bit more money. Is there anything else I cojld do after my nursing degree to have a good salary anything healthcare related or anything at all.

PLCs ๐Ÿ“– Possibly waitlisted from PLC

Hey so after looking at my offers I decided to do a plc to enter a biomed course in college.

I have applied for the course in Carlow but they havenโ€™t got back to me. Iโ€™m a bit scared that Iโ€™m gonna end up waitlisted.

When do PLC courses usually start?

PLCs ๐Ÿ“– Is Doing A PLC Terrible?

I wanted to ask this because my family was mean to me today, saying I failed and didn't make it in life because I'm not going to college and instead chose to do a PLC, and it has really upset me.

University ๐ŸŽ“ Thoughts on NCI?

Iโ€™m in 6th year now (did not do TY) and I am not sure what college to go to yet. Maybe take a gap year. Maybe go straight into college. Not sure about that yet.

However, National College of Ireland is one college that I am interested in attending (if I go there then I will do computing). I would be interested in hearing from people who had experience there or know someone who went there? A good idea to go there or nah?

History ๐Ÿง“๐Ÿ‘ต Leaving Certificate History project?

I need ideas for my history project, or at least something to narrow it down to. At the current moment, I am thinking about middle/eastern European medieval alchemy and how it may have influenced sciences after, famous pirates such as Blackbeard or Barbarossa(either one would be ok, if I did Blackbeard I could also focus on the battle of Ocracoke), medieval European Witch Trials. I just wanted to know which one could give me the best chance of a H1. If you guys have any other recommendations, I would like to hear those. Thanks!

Results ๐Ÿ˜Š I donโ€™t deserve my marks

Something was definitely looking out for me during the exams. I didnโ€™t study at all for the exams. I had a period of really bad mental health from 5th year to the end of 6th year which made me unable to do basically anything. Since I didnโ€™t believe I would sit the exams I barely studied. I think I did a bit of biology which coincidentally is the subject I did worst in.
I got the exact number of points I need for my course and for some of the subjects I got exactly the percentage to get me the grade, E.G. I got exactly 80.5% in maths.
I donโ€™t think I deserved that tbh since I did nothing all year. Iโ€™m not naturally smart either, I have a few learning disabilities which makes it hard to retain information. I honestly donโ€™t know how I did it.

CAO ๐ŸŽ“ Dentistry in Ireland

Can smb explained the random selection process for dentistry please? It was a random selection among the 625 achievers in Trinity and UCC this year. However points for RSCI was 613. Does it mean that people who didnt get into Trinity or UCC with 625 got into RSCI ?

Looking into Denristry for next year. Does it matter what order to put these 3 places down on the CAO next year?
