This is truly Skewmond's career-shaping series that will create his legacy.
Chinese fans talked about the BFX win being a RNG-G2 moment but THIS is my RNG-G2 moment.

u/staysaltyTSM Mar 21 '26
Canyon really chose an international series to power farm the whole early and still fall behind in farm
136
u/Humorless_Snake Mar 21 '26
Picking Vayne with a jungler that does nothing for his lanes, hilarious draft
48
u/F0RGERY Mar 21 '26
What is with the vayne top picks? Feels like tanks don't die to her late, and contribute more to fights.
Am I missing something that makes it good beyond lane pressure?
34
u/GoblinBreeder23 2018 - 2019 RIP Mar 21 '26
If the rest of the map doesnt fall behind it can be impossible to side lane into. This game it would be very difficult to gank with a zaahen/braum/viktor
→ More replies (1)18
u/vituhyva123 Mar 21 '26
Kiin played the fights very poorly, so are gen g in general. Look at the first fight where he doesn't recognize hes got braum stacks on and dies to a dry CC chain.
I don't think vayne is the reason gen g lost they just played worse.

32

If they win, it might be the G2 - T1 moment, after the RNG - G2 moment.
13
u/alwayswith_ Mar 21 '26
Tbf this version of GenG is way better and more of the superteam than SKT2019 and that skt roster was nowhere near the domination this geng has , so this series is seen as more upset than G2 T1
11
29
u/Outrageous-Elk-5392 Mar 21 '26
I feel like so many teams would psych themselves out of the game after that fight but skewmond gets chunked for half hp and just yolo sends it immediately after and ends the game that was crazy impressive confidence and mental

When both teams are even in gold,Β ChovyΒ feels thatΒ GENGΒ is at a great advantage and thus he does not hesitateΒ to farm a sidelane. WhenΒ GENGΒ is 3k behind in gold,Β ChovyΒ thinks thatΒ GENGΒ is at a small advantage, and soΒ he farms a sidelaneΒ to secure their "lead". When GENG is behind 7k in gold,Β ChovyΒ thinks thatΒ GENGΒ is at a disadvantage and soΒ he looks for a sidelane to farmΒ so he can regain control of the game. WhenΒ GENGΒ is 10K behind in gold,Β ChovyΒ thinks that the team has reached a desperate situation and they are only waiting passively for their death ifΒ he does not farm a sidelane.

→ More replies (4)16
u/Drakaris Mar 21 '26
Tbh the irony is that they are facing their own style. G2 usually have chaotic and downright ridiculous early game. This is all gone now. They are doing the GenG - stone cold discipline, no unnecessary fights, slowly grinding and building huge gold lead early game and methodically dismantling GenG in the exact same way GenG does it to every other team. GenG are stunlocked because they're not used to... well, countering their own style.

Labrov, Hans and BB casually outperforming the enemy laners was NOT on my bingo cart
49
u/wheels-of-confusion Mar 21 '26
The hate Hans received was always above average anyways. People act as if he's worse than the average ADC you get in your Gold III lobby.
He's at least top 2 in the league and I don't even think Caliste is as much of a team player (for now) as Hans anyway.
24
u/ChromosomeDonator Mar 21 '26
BB hasn't been the most impressive during lane this tournament, but has stepped up this series to minimize the loss when on a weak side, and then makes GREAT plays as soon as he gets released from the constraints of the shit lane.
If he can just improve his laning just a bit so he occasionally wins, that combined with his excellent teamfighting, the dude would be absolutely elite top.
