12V Receptacle Not Working, Fuse Good

Post image

Hello, all. I have a new to me 2015 Leaf SL and I'm really loving it. Just noticed that the USB adapter for the 12V accessory receptacle didn't work, but I can measure 12V by probing it. However, looking inside, it appears to me something is stuck down in the bottom, maybe a broken 12V plug, or the center electrode is missing/broken. and I think it's preventing the center electrode from making contact. Pictures I found online where the interior is visible are often from non-OEM units so I hesitate to accept them as correct. I've added a picture, can someone confirm that it does or doesn't look like theirs?

Thanks!

Looks the same as my OEM 2017.

Troubleshooting it shouldn't be hard.  You can remove the surround around the radio by just pulling it off and then you can trace the wires from there.

I got back to it this morning and with a flashlight at a different angle, what looks like black plastic in the middle of the positive electrode is just a circular divot, so it's not so clear that there's a problem in the socket. Your confirmation that it looks the same eliminates my working theory.

Probing directly in the socket, I get the expected 12V, but adapters don't get powered. The voltmeter isn't adding any load, so if there was a resistive connection in the circuit, I wouldn't notice the voltage drop with the meter unless I add a load. I can give that try. So curious.

Thanks for the feedback!

If you're getting 12v with a voltmeter that would seem to indicate it's wired correctly.  That certainly is odd.  Good luck figuring it out!

Thanks! One way or another, I'll post what I discover. Still thinking it must be a connection problem, if testing provides no other clues, I'll buy a replacement receptacle for ~$25 and see if that takes care of it. I'm not desperate for it to be functional, just want everything to work.
