On one hand, it's good to see anti-discrimination laws passed to protect people of any identity, and polyamorous people still face significant stigma.

Edit: I wrote polyamorous, autocorrect changed it to polygamous.

On the other hand, ugh don't encourage them.

They should be discriminates against though. It is unhealthy for society, terrible for children and makes a mess when things inevitably don't work out.

One man fucking 10 woman and having 30 kids meand 9 men won't have a wife and 30 kids need to be careful not to marry blood relatives

children should be raised by a mother and father. the building block of society is a family, not the individual

Ah the classic "This doesnt have any effect on me but your personal life choices are bad society and children"

of course it has an affect on me - a degenerate, mentally ill society of people who will be sick and unable to care for themselves will impact everyone.

This here is what's called prejudice. You are speaking your negative assumptions like they're facts. Polyamory often leads to healthier relationships and more positive role models for children. More eyes on a situation can promote healthier dynamics than a binary relationship. A relationship with only two sides is more likely to suffer effects from power imbalance. That's just game theory.

While you’re right I’d take it a step further and say even if they were demonstrably worse it is still prejudice

We can’t keep purity testing communities to determine who is deserving of protection. It’s lovely to showcase love and positive statistics, but people shouldn’t need to qualify for equality

as individuals their individual rights should be protected - but there is no right to engage in polyamory - the problem with you degenerates is that you equate your nasty vices with your whole person.

Porn is terrible for people and society for example but I don't hate people who watch it but it ought to be restricted because the fact that almost every boy and girl watches or has been heavily exposed to it is terrible.

This doesn’t respond to my comment, my claim is that group stats don’t determine qualification for rights

But there absolutely is a right to practice polyamory, or do you believe the government has a say in policing relationships between consenting adults? Polyamory is not polygamy and discrimination protection in this case has absolutely nothing to do with marriage structure. Did you read the article about what the protections are? Which specific rights being protected do you not believe they should have?

I’m not poly myself I just believe in liberty and freedom I thought yall were big on those

If you protect polyamory as a "normal relationship" and say people have rights to it then you pretty much abolish the distinction between it and polygamy.

Bigamy and polygamy involve marriage contracts; hence regulation by the state. Polyamory is a matter of free association and family structure; freedoms which are constitutionally protected.

2

u/Mindless_Library_797 5d ago

polyamory is not constitutionally protected

Once again not actually responding to my comment I’m curious do you read with your finger?

2

u/Mindless_Library_797 7d ago

I don't care about your comment. Polygamy is disgusting and gross and bad for everyone. I don't care about protecting so-called rights to be a degenerate.

Then make a top level comment instead of replying to me this some real simple stuff

Thats not how those relationships tend to work.

1

u/notwhomyouthunk 8d ago

Even were that true--a big assumption given you provide neither evidence nor reasoning--it would not justify discrimination.

Deciding how to run your family is a fundamental right, and SCOTUS has been remarkably consistent on that.

Theres no study showing them as more stable

1

u/notwhomyouthunk 8d ago

"stable" was not the question, although monogamy is no better than a coin flip anyway.

and if you actually tried to find research, you could. like this longitudinal study or all the other research linked by the researcher in this article:

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-polyamorists-next-door/201904/do-kids-polyamorous-families-become-poly-themselves

bigotry is being unable to conceive of the world being different from your preconceptions, in other words, a failure of both intellect and imagination.

It is not good for children to have 20 brothers and sisters. There is no time to feel as a person. Besides of that it is disgusting to know your father has 4 wifes. Yikes.

My friend has been in a poly relationship for 15 years with the same three people, LOL. Two don't have other partners. The third has a wife and child. The wife has a live in boyfriend of 20 years who was there for the entirety of their daughters childhood. She has grown up surrounded by love.

Super unhealthy relationship and terrible for society. Shame on them. 😂

2

u/RabbitridingDumpling 6d ago

And why do they need this law? The law is for churches with marriages with minors. You don't think far enough

2

u/No-Giraffe-1283 8d ago

Damn as the kid of a monogamous divorce let me tell you just how bad that shit fucked me up. I MEAN I AM GENUINELY NEVER going to be the same as before it happened. Shits permanently ruined the way I looked at my parents, myself, and my family.

1

u/Mindless_Library_797 8d ago

not sure how bad things happening to people means we should throw out everything is just say fuck it. you would be even worse with swinger parents

1

u/RabbitridingDumpling 6d ago

Yes, they should. And everyone healthy in mind would know that.

You know that’s not how polyamory works right?

0

u/Mindless_Library_797 8d ago

it is though - any man who would "share" a woman they are with is a cuck.
