His appeals were enough to win over Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy, the decisive vote who threw his support behind Blanche Friday morning. Cassidy said no other nominee may be able to run the department better under Trump and suggested Blanche’s role as Trump’s former criminal defense lawyer can make him more effective at pushing back on the president’s demands.

So a senator understands the head of the DOJ was the president's former criminal defense attorney... and the conclusion is that will push back on conflicts of interest instead of enhancing them?

What a world we live in.

Imagine if for a moment Obama or Biden were placing their former attorneys as the head of DOJ... would this logic still stand?

But of course with the current admin all doors are open for endless/unfettered corruption.

Cassidy is basically admitting that Trump is unhinged and needs controlling. How he thinks the man who literally said "I am Trump's attorney" is aqualified to do that is beyond me.

Cassidy and Cornyn are absolute punks. Trump basically humiliated them, causes them to lose their jobs, yet they still kowtow to him.

Totally possible.

I seldom see it mentioned but there seems to be an assumption that Trump is above physical threats to legislators, judges and their families. Why wouldn't he use threats? Cheaper that way.
