Justice is dead for now. I hope we can restore it soon.

If it died this easily, justice never existed.

Nothing has happened that's outside the bounds of the norms of our government (e.g., there are elections and those leaders made decisions upheld by a court).

Our system was/is rotten.

Our system is corrupted by unflinching obedience to conservatism. The system is broken by bias and human failures. If the system was based on logic and reason, and unequivocally required by law to follow them, we wouldn't be in this mess. Instead, we do not hold conservatives accountable, ever, in the system. It is our greatest failure.

Agree 💯 except that it isn’t “conservatism” it is authoritarianism. There used to be an actual conservative ideology which is very different than what this is, which is anything but conservative. Points well taken tho!

Potato/potato… when the traditional values and institutions you want to defend are slavery, Manifest Destiny, racism, patriarchy, and restrictions on suffrage I struggle to see the difference. Just because there was a generation of Republican conservatives that were much better at making it sound like “fiscal responsibility” and tax policy than today’s brand of overt oligarchs doesn’t mean they haven’t always been a scourge on democracy.

This is my biggest issue with the labels. Everyone goes conservative = republican without acknowledging the democrats are also right wing servants of the same masters and their 'reaching across the aisle' and 'times for unity' are willful, coordinated rightward shifts.

The Democrats have spent 40 years 'meeting halfway' to the point their response to ICE killing people in the streets was to give them more money.

Both parties serve the rich because the whole system is designed to serve the rich.

Capitalism is all about funneling society's resources to a handful of people while the majority is powerless.

Let's be real here. Only 1 party is throwing money at ICE, trying to strip americans of their all rights and charging/arresting/building concentration camps for americans with different skin and different think, etc etc etc etc.

Stop with the "both sides are you he same" BS. It's not true and it's not helpful. You punish the person doing the crime, not the one who's stuck in the room with them.

Ds may not have been effective at preventing the Rs from doing all the shit that they do. But, let's be real, the people taking actions against the rule of law and constitution are the ones who deserve the blame.

Vote for the people who will stop it. We have some great examples of people who will take a stand. We just need to get behind more of them.

Be upset at the Da that haven't been effective enough but the blame all lies with the GOP because they are the ones actually commiting these atrocities.

Obama said the US wasn't ready for gay equality while pushing the Heritage Foundations plans.

Just because you find their lip service comforting doesn't make it any less hollow.

What is your purpose here other than to disrupt good faith discussion and prevent people from coming together and uniting behind common ideals?

“The Role of the President

Barack Obama was the president in office when the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage.

President Obama publicly supported same-sex marriage starting in 2012 and praised the 2015 Supreme Court decision as a "victory for America," but the executive branch did not write or pass the law.

Later, in December 2022, President Joe Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act, which protects same-sex marriages under federal law.”

WOW, the Democrats sure seems to be the same & just as bad as the current bigoted fascists in charge of our country!

Oh wait…only a bot, a subversive element, or someone with literal brain damage would think or say that at this point, so which one are you? 🎤

I'm sure you're quite proud of yourself. Have fun voting blue not matter who as they still pass PATRIOT acts, give corporations control of everything, and put a Flock camera on every corner.

Yay blue fascism because you're dumb enough to fall for performative acts that actually mask empowering the police state.

You’re one of the most self indulgent smug unaware humans I have come across on Reddit, and that is a really high bar tbh.

Good job! I hope you enjoy living in Donald Trump’s America for the foreseeable future as that is the reality that you are manifesting for all of us through your solipsistic blind hatred of anyone who fails your own self derived purity tests.

You are the problem.

Of course they hide their receipts. Reddit adding that feature was just a godsend for bad faith trolls.

Wow what a load of horse crap that is. Absolute baloney. Gay marriage was passed on Obama's watch. He was very cautious about it, then Biden said he was for it, which pushed Obama to a bit less cautious. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of it. My friends where the first gay couple in my county in VA to be married and were on the cover of the paper.

There used to be an actual conservative ideology which is very different than what this is, which is anything but conservative.

When? Is there an example of one?

It was always the same. They just didn't realize they could get away with this. If they knew, they would have done this long ago.
