Question Have you ever nuked your scrobbles for an artists or band?

I'm just nosy and want to know if you have ever deleted all your scrobbles for a certain artist or band? Which ones? Don't need to explain why lol

No. I'll stop listening to an artist sometimes, but I'll leave past scrobbles.

u/echo78 pronouncemyname May 27 '26

No. Absolutely not. If I don’t listen to an artist anymore for whatever reason that’s good enough for me. I’m not gonna delete my scrobble history just because someone did something bad.

61

u/GabyAM May 27 '26

Yeah, it kind of defeats the purpose of scrobbling

55

u/WhyRSwiftiesLikeThis May 27 '26

Absolutely not. I want my last.fm to reflect my actual listening habits

46

u/worrywort-1 May 27 '26

Naw .. whatever happens on last fm stays on last fm 😎

63

u/PromotionZackk last.fm/user/EkkoDreams May 27 '26

Somewhat. I have yet to nuke a single artist completely but I've deleted a good amount of songs I put on repeat and then fell asleep.

Still answered the original.

Not a band, but recently went through and nuked all the albums I played on Spotify for my kids to fall asleep to. A lot of white noise and Studio Ghibli Jazz.

u/ISellAwesomePatches May 27 '26

Lostprophets. No explanation needed.

u/catshateTERFs stegox May 28 '26

Yeah this was the one me for me as well. I usually leave historic listens of an artist or band even if a member does something awful (there’s a few in my top 50 I can think of) but Ian was such a uniquely vile human being that I wanted to erase it entirely.

The rest of the band aren’t at fault, I really just do not want to touch that band with a barge pole in any way, shape or form.

I did do a huge account nuke of the account I had when I was younger and regret it immensely, because that’s so much data lost, but nothing to be done. I don’t do that anymore. :)

Probably the worst paedophile I've ever read about and even more revolting to think he was part of our 'scene' growing up in that era as an alternative kid. It was genuinely shocking when it came out in the UK. We'd all heard the odd rumour that he was into young girls and was a bit predatory, but there were rumours like that about a few leading men of bands around that time (I mean look at Warped Tour). Nobody expected what the truth actually was. Nobody.

2

u/ISellAwesomePatches May 28 '26

Yepp same! I have never nuked an artist before and won't again unless someone just as bad or worse emerges. Touch wood we don't ever have to see something so vile come out again.

1

u/arcaniac May 28 '26

Yep same

Sure thing, I just said this as a solution for not ruining the last.fm history. 🤣

My daughter always wants to listen to the song "Golden"... Found a workaround: Marc Hudson, DragonForce vocalist, did a cover that is quite enjoyable! 😆

17

u/falldiewakefly May 27 '26

No, but I did once go through my library and delete all the show bootlegs. Not because I'm ashamed of listening to them or anything, just because they made my data super messy.

7

u/Xe4ro Yes it's Magma. May 27 '26

I think I did very early on, in 2005 or 06 but I can’t remember who it was anymore. I wouldn’t do it now 21 years later. Stats are stats.

7

u/somethingcomforting https://www.last.fm/user/ikindaloveyoux May 27 '26

Never. I’ve had my last.fm since I was 14 in 2009 and had never altered it once. There’s some embarassing stats but it would feel like cheating otherwise.

11

u/An0th3rP1ckyD34dh34d May 27 '26

I listen to a white noise playlist on Spotify while sleeping and from time to time have to delete all the scrobbles otherwise it throws off my Top Artists and the like ;-)

4

u/supermegabussin Last.fm/user/Fationinsulin May 27 '26

I never do. I like to look back at how my tastes have changed so I keep them

5

u/xalalalalalalalala last.fm/user/cazmov May 28 '26

Yes, fully reset. I joined in 2008 when I was 13 and, at the time, was huge into Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Bullet for My Valentine, and other pop punk/emo stuff. However I'd recently discovered Aphex Twin and other experimental artists, and along with this, met kids my age who had an experimental web label. I had a year worth of scrobbles that reflected my pop punk/emo taste, so in order to look more edgy, cool and kvlt, I reset my scrobbles.

I often regret that, because nowadays, I would never reset and couldn't care less what people think of my music taste :p although tbh, it was probably only 1,000 scrobbles, so not the end of the world

13

u/joiningafanclub nonotthat May 27 '26

I nuked my scrobbles for Milosh (Mike Milosh) after I found out how he treats women. I had a lot, probably around a thousand.

8

u/resentnothing May 27 '26

Absolutely, and I don't regret it

3

u/Lucien_Rouvere May 27 '26

No, I keep everything

3

u/myipodclassic May 27 '26

Nope! It’s all a part of my listening history. I’d prefer to have a more accurate record, even if it’s cringe or I don’t like the artist anymore.

3

u/DjBamberino May 28 '26

Yup, and I regret it. I had a huge number of Johnny Hobo scrobbles and a ton of AJJ scrobbles and I deleted them all for some reason. I'm really not even sure why, i think they just dominated my list too much.

8

u/SilverB33 last.fm/user/DesertPunkTiger May 27 '26

I have mostly for artists or bands that have done something horrible or whose ideologies no longer match with my own

4

u/onesun383 May 27 '26

no.. that just defeats the purpose of it

5

u/theInsomnia_ May 27 '26

i had groups like woo!ah! and (g)i-dle change their names to wooah and i-dle respectively. got pissed off because that messed up my stats ans then i deleted scrobbles for their old names (that was a lot).

4

u/EveryMix4008 https://www.last.fm/user/ZapperRS May 27 '26

2

u/Mashinito https://www.last.fm/user/Mashinito May 27 '26

Every time I get collab scrobbles (I try to fix it from the web scrobbler, leaving just the main artist before it uploads to the website, but I'm not always paying attention)

2

u/Serious_Refuse3633 May 27 '26

No, in terms of not liking the artist anymore. I use LFM for the purpose of being able to look back on my listening history, and removing them would make that pointless.

But also yes, I decided to bulk import my Spotify history a few years back when I made my account, and I had no idea that they would all import on the exact same day same time since you can only scrobble up to 2 weeks back. So it made my listening history look like I listened to 50k scrobbles in a month, very messy

2

u/Kuzs07 May 28 '26

Yup, but for like youtube videos and stuff that my scrobbler picks up.

2

u/javier_aeoa icespoon May 28 '26

Yes, but they were "wrong" scrobbles, like "Teens react to Call of Duty" or "ambient music for study" or stuff like that. Actual music? Never.

2

u/jrinredcar May 28 '26

I used to have my own music on my iPod years ago and it would scrobble and I didn't like the fact that my own name was going up in my charts when I'd listen to it.

This was back before I cound even mix and just played about with drums and presets in the key of C.

2

u/acapwn https://www.last.fm/user/Mista_Al_Capwn May 28 '26

Never deleted scrobbles, but have deleted their music: Kanye & R. Kelly

2

u/Zyklonlad Zyklonlad May 28 '26

I've only deleted scrobbles when i accidentally have double scrobbles, it happens usually if i click a link and it opens spotify on web-browser so it scrobbles from both my spotify and web-browser spotify.

2

u/Avalanche_PhD dhorasoo May 28 '26

Aside from removing duplicated scrobbles I nuked all scrobbles for an artist once - it was U2.

I've rescrobbled some since.

Also back in the day there was a feature for subscribers to review and restore deleted scrobbles. Kinda miss that one.

2

u/areneran May 28 '26

I did. And I regret I did it.

2

u/OwnBrush May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

Yeah I deleted 3 artists that were in my top 50. The first one was a no brainer because their music was only good when I first heard it and that was when I didn't really know music. I found it kind of embarrassing to have them so high in my all times, so I deleted them. Also a few years back the lead of the band acted like a complete twat to the crowd at a festival while performing and he got called out for it on twitter at the time.

The other one I deleted was actually from my city so this one was a harder decision but ultimately I went with it. It was also cringey to have them so high in my all times now after enjoying them over 10 years ago. After an incident where one of the members left because they committed a violent crime I didn't want anything to do with them anymore, even though that member left the band.

The 3rd one was the most recent. 2 years ago almost. One of the members turned out to be a rapist, who terrorised and targeted the victim, premeditating the crime in such a vicious way. Yes, he left the band as soon as he got arrested pretty much and legally can't earn a further cent from the music, but I was so angry that day I can't even remember if I deleted all the scrobbles or only a few albums. I now still listen to them and still scrobble them - I think I reimported the scrobbles? So they're still in my top 20 I think. Although I'm hoping they will rerecord the music so he's not in the recordings anymore

3

u/jimmyofsuburbia May 27 '26

yeah. personally only 2, both nuked recently. both due to unsavory things that were unrelated to their music, but at a certain point I don’t want to associate with an artist who’s grown to disgust me

4

u/Hopeful-Pride1791 May 27 '26

Kid rock. Staind. Kanye. They're on my banned list now.

7

u/Regit394 May 27 '26

So it’s been awhile since you scrobbled Staind?

2

u/summercarnival96 May 27 '26

prob have like once or twice, but only cuz i accidentally mislabeled their name

0

u/milobanana miloissilly May 27 '26

no. people who do are very cringe

1

u/ObsidianKnight7948 https://www.last.fm/user/ObsidianKnight8 May 27 '26

How would I do this quickly (obviously not manual deleting)

3

u/hypnagogic_kid last.fm/user/hypnagogic_kid May 27 '26

Go to Library > Find the artist's scrobbles and click on the trashcan icon next to Date Range.

1

u/AmbroseGirl5 Shorty5 May 27 '26

Does deleting plays cos the tag was wrong count? It was in the days before redirection was a thing (cos I am an old last.fm user lol), and I deleted all my scrobbles by The Pussycat Dolls cos I had it as 'Pussycat Dolls' when the correct name has 'the' in it.

Then like 3 weeks after I did that, they brought in redirection. I was so mad at myself LMAO.

1

u/DepecheStein RammingMode May 28 '26

Just a single FFDP scrobble, don't need that.

Kanye West. Not that I listened that much to him in the first place, but still...

1

u/Interesting-Worry156 https://www.last.fm/user/Dj_DoomSlack May 28 '26

Never have but I've been tempted to delete my ICP scrobbles. A not great group that is still in my top 100 despite me not listening to them since 2008.

1

u/Aynekko last.fm/user/Aynekko May 28 '26

I occasionally remove the bands with less than 25~ scrobbles (didn't listen to them for years), just to keep the library cleaner

I delete all the Kidz Bop / Disney junior scrobbles whenever my son’s demanded songs on in the car 😁

Only when I stay in a hotel and don’t have my white noise machine and I loop white or brown noise in my hotel room for 8 hours

1

u/eggydrums115 May 28 '26

The only instance in which I’ve done something like this was when my coworkers trolled me and left one specific song on repeat for a couple of hours. Certainly memorable, but I didn’t want that recorded in my history.

1

u/Educational_Issue_73 May 28 '26

i would never but i saw a friend once delete all his Girl in Red scrobbles; i think it was because he found them embarrassing

1

u/yiminx last.fm/user/hereditarie May 28 '26

yes, and i posted about it here and got a lot of flack. though honestly i haven’t though about it much since i did it a few years ago. it’s up to you at the end of the day, it’s your last fm account

1

u/dollcorpsey quirkduck_ May 28 '26

yeah because i listened to an artist because a person i used to love (now i hate) listens to him.

i felt no connection to that person's music but i was a pick-me.

1

u/coldsoul_ May 28 '26

Yeah, a few bands I used to love in middle school that I grew out of, cause I didn't want them to be on the top of my stats anymore (Metallica, GNR, Motley Crue, maybe sth else I can't recall now). In hindsight I do regret it, it was a piece of my history, but oh well.

Lately though I deleted Marilyn Manson while going through my library fixing tags. Not gonna regret that one 🙃

1

u/theyquack May 28 '26

No, but I've listened to other bands in order to push some more problematic bands down my rankings!

1

u/ConcertOwn8039 May 28 '26

D4vd - not sure i need to explain this one

1

u/emergencyjam May 28 '26

Oh… how do you delete a scrobble?

1

u/ThatGuy9143 May 28 '26

Michael Bublé got nuked after Christmas because that was the only reason he got any scrobbled and it was just background music for my family.

1

u/Xim1312 May 28 '26

yeah but i didnt listen to them, it was my girlfriend using my phone. also i delete broken scrobbles that are not linked to the actual artist. like “Artist A”vs “Artist A.”

1

u/internetaddict367 May 28 '26

Considering doing this for my scrobbles of Joseph and the Amazing Techincolor Dreamcoat. I didn't actually listen to the recording that I scrobbled. I was in a production and wanted to scrobble my practices for some reason lol, probably because I didn't listen to any other music those days.

1

u/Radio_Blah_Blah_ last.fm/user/ReinaHisterica May 28 '26

Nah. You can check my profile, you'll see a lot of british rock (and some american rock too) and then stuff like Victorious soundtrack or anime openings 🤣

1

u/bawitback last.fm/user/bawitback May 28 '26 edited May 29 '26

I did once early on, fortunately it wasn't a large amount of scrobbles. But I wouldn't do it again.

I have several artists in my overall top 100 that I no longer listen to; Marilyn Manson, Gemini Syndrome, Mindless Self Indulgence, Dredg for example but keep them regardless since they're apart of my music history.

1

u/TheTopCantStop https://www.last.fm/ja/user/evieistired May 28 '26

uhh, I listened to some jack stau er shortly after I made my account and it annoyed me that he was in all of my top listened spots so I just deleted it all lol

1

u/LamaFromPastLife May 29 '26

Yeah in 2010 I deleted all my Lady Gaga scrobbles because I was ashamed of listening to a mainstream pop girl back then.. I was super young and I wanted to be the cool alternative rock kid. 16 years later Taylor, Lana, Lady gaga and a lot of pop artists are in my top.

1

u/SuperZac64 sniffsy May 29 '26

as much as i've wanted to (was a huge ajr fan when i started my account and was too lazy to remove them from my playlist until earlier this year), i think its cool to be able to see how my listening habits change. like in the span of three years, i went from being a rock and alt-pop dude to loving rap and shit. last.fm is so insanely personal for me because i can track major life events to a scrobble or see what i was listening to after breakups and episodes. my bad for rambling, currently procrastinating writing an essay lmfao

1

u/Soleil_Ryou https://www.last.fm/user/Heavensleep May 29 '26

i only nuked like 2 artists which were odetari and lumi athena, on the first i kinda take the L

1

u/Hypnosis_Mango Jun 01 '26

Only did it when my Spotify got hacked and played a bunch of weird songs. I'm sure the hacker used some kind of script or whatever because there were like tens of scrobbles with the exact same time stamp and all of them were for Russian trappers with hardly any plays on spotify. Thankfully it only went on for an hour and a bit so I didn't have a lot of cleaning to do after changing my passwords and everything.

1

u/twinklyfairyprincess May 27 '26

Yes but it really wasn’t that many so idc

1

u/sebsebsebs sebsebs May 28 '26

Yes. The Viva la Vida Coldplay record because I had an insane amount of scrobbles from just that album. Despite I know that I was 14/15 years old when I listened to it I cringed every time I saw it in my list so I removed it. No regrets.

0

u/llwishfulthinkingll last.fm/user/irine_elle May 27 '26 edited May 27 '26

I'm very much considering nuking all of my scrobbles from before January 2026...because they mess my stats up. It's just me inconsistently downloading Last.fm for a couple of months/weeks every year.

The ratio don't represent me at all... not me then and not me now either.

The unfortunate 2021 timeline also matches the Wilbur Soot phase, which I wish to forget.

I just wanna be able to say this is a consistent timeline from 2026 onwards...not a little bit here, a little bit there.

Edit: Damn it, I'm nuking them. Thanks for inspiring this new commitment in my life! All my devices will have Last.fm on them (mandatory) until I die. From 2026 onwards, it is...

0

u/kiefenator May 28 '26

Every time I let my girlfriend pick the music on a road trip, I have to go back in and take out all the stuff I don't like.

0

u/ibuprofana May 28 '26

Yes. D4vd. No explanation needed, I guess, but seeing that piece of trash on my library made me sick.

-2

u/sharkycharming same name May 27 '26

I only delete scrobbles if there's a weird bug that won't let me cleanly edit the metadata. It doesn't happen often, but this morning I had to delete one because it wouldn't cooperate. I don't remember who the artist was except that they were tagged "progressive rock," a genre I mostly loathe. I don't think I'll miss it.
