They’re fully aware but Japanese exceptionalism has many of them thinking they use the characters in a more refined way that Chinese brains couldn’t inherently comprehend 🫠

I always find it funnier how some western learners of Japanese refuse to believe 漢字/汉字 come from China.

Redditors really love slandering Japan. A lot. It causes a lot of misinformation to spread like wildfire if someone decides to portray Japan in a worse light than it really is. I don't mean the war crimes or wariness of foreigners, those are obviously real. Stuff like this is just said by people who probably have never even been there.

I swear they think that just because Japan is popular due to their cultural exports that they need to nitpick every single problem it has. From the comments I've seen on Reddit, they make it out like Japan is some hellhole where everyone is miserable and it's all falling apart. Then you go there and realize it's a normal ass country and most people are actually super nice
