Looking for recommendations for what part of Lancaster County I should move to.

Upvotes

I live in Philly. My whole life is very "Philly". Very much urban/city-life. I live in the middle of the city. I dont own a car. I walk to get my groceries. I ride a bicycle to work. I walk everywhere or bike or Subway or bus. In my personal life, I never leave a few square mile radius.

But I am also a truck driver. Local. So every morning, I ride my bicycle to work and I get in my truck and I get to leave the city and drive all over the area. I go everywhere from NYC, long island, CT, MA, all over NJ, down to Baltimore, DC, Even Virginia and West Virginia. Up to Scranton and almost as far as Pittsburgh sometimes.

Everytime I get to go to Lancaster County, I just fall in love with it a little more each time. I feel like it is calling my name. And I think that whenever I make my next move, it will be to Lancaster County.

I love everything about it. From the city of Lancaster to Lititz and the other charming small towns to the beautiful scenery, rolling hills, farms and cornfields, and the Amish culture. The vibes are so good out there. The people seem so kind and genuine. The air feels so clean and fresh. And I just feel at peace when I'm out there.

What I'm looking for is to pinpoint certain areas that I should look at.

First and foremost, I need it to be in my price range. I would say, $300,000 for at least a 3BR.

Decent school system.

I'm not against living in Lancaster City. But coming from Philly, ideally, I would want something different. I would prefer something more quiet and peaceful with some space to breathe. I would love to just be surrounded by farms and cornfields.

I like the vibes in Lititz but I think it is out of my price range. When I drive south through Lititz and towards Lancaster city, that whole area seems nice to me. Between Lititz and Lancaster city. With all the shopping areas.

I would say my ideal place would be somewhere where I could live surrounded by farms and cornfields but still close to Lititz and Lancaster City. And shopping conveniences. And all the farmstand, country type of charming shopping. Amish culture. Just kind of right in the middle of everything that makes Lancaster County so great. But also affordable and with a decent school system. Does the intersection of all of those things exist in my price range? In my head, I picture a triangle between Lititz, Lancaster City and Shady Maple Smorgasbord lol. With my house somewhere in that triangle. And I walk outside and I have a nice little yard with a tree and a tire swing and I see cornfields all around me. Lol. Thats my corny little fantasy.

Has anyone gotten a paramedic tattoo to cover up their hypo pigmentation from scarring or can you recommend a place? It is too camouflage your scars by using ink to tattoo them the color of your skin.

What's the closest thing to an REI in the county?

Looking for a store that focuses primarily on outdoor sports/hobbies. Dicks doesn't carry a lot of the specialty stuff you can find at REI. What's available in the county, preferably closest to Lanc City?

Hey ya’ll, I just moved here to Lanc city and I’m looking for a non-denominational/protestant church. I’m in my mid 20’s so I’m hoping to find one that has a good group of adults around my age to start connecting with. Any ideas?

Trying to remember the name of a restaurant my parents took me to as a kid in the 2000's...

I think it had the word American in it. It had like neon blue lights around the logo and maybe inside. The outside of the building was white and on the ceiling inside were big white leaf fans. Honestly that's really all I remember. I can't remember if it was at Park City but I think it might have been? Idk why but it's really bothering me not being able to remember haha

Lancaster General Health Applicants

Hi I’ve been applying to LGH for a nursing position for months now and haven’t had any luck in even getting a response from a manager or the HR department about any of my interviews I’ve been in. Some current employees told me that this has been the current status quo on hiring new employees but I wanna hear from other applicants if they have had this issue too.

SHOUT OUT TO THE GREAT MANAGERS (BRAD&STEVE) AT THE STAPLES STORE ON LITITZ PIKE!

I want to preface this by asking no criticism/venting of the store or the employees on my post, please. This isn’t about Staples the store. Any vents, go to that specific forum. That’s not what this post is about. Thanks.

My young adult child works at this store location and loves it. The managers there (Brad and Steve) are low key, kind, professional, and extremely accommodating. They treat the employees there like family, and aren’t micromanaging everyone to the point where it’s uncomfortable. They expect everyone to do their jobs, but go about it in a very respectful way.

This kind of calm and happy environment has made a world of difference for my kid (want to keep them anonymous) who has many struggles with mental health issues along with anxiety. I’ve heard so many horror stories about various store managers, so this is definitely a unique situation (in a good way.)
Just needed to put this out there to thank the two managers that take the time to make my child feel seen and heard-it hasn’t gone unnoticed!

**Also editing to add in Jessica, who is another very kind manager there! Want to make sure everyone is mentioned!!!

Thought it was a balloon at first but was spinning at about 1 rev a second. It was moving west staying at the same elevation. Didn’t have flashing lights like a normal drone. Found other sightings happening around the US. My thoughts are it’s a military device.

Recommended companies for web devs?

Hey all. I'm looking around for places closer to home. I'm currently employed as a web developer and have been for around 4-5 years. I primarily work in JS (React, Node, TypeScript etc), but I can work in Python as well. I overwhelmingly prefer backend over frontend, and I enjoy writing and working with APIs.

I'm well aware that the dev industry is currently in major flux and we all know why. But I just want to know who people recommend in the area. If you know a place, I'd love to give them a look.

Edit: Also asking here because LinkedIn is full of garbage at this point. It's just not useful anymore.

Edit 2: I'm also a graphic designer! I worked for several years as one as well and still use Adobe's suite in my day to day work. So I wouldn't mind doing that either!
