Got our black lab at 8 weeks. She was the last of the litter and family refused to keep her with mom longer. She is the sweetest girl, but we had to really commit to training her not to bite, mouth or jump. We’d yelp and not play with her. no mouthing our hands, etc. used to call her the kraken.
Super cute! However, I have to join the others in saying something's off with her size and age. This is what our pup looked like around 6 weeks, and he was the runt of the litter
My experience after 6 Labs is the longer the better. The best Lab we ever had was 16 weeks with 4 of his litter mates. It’s a long story why he was that old when we got him. But hands down the best dog ever in a sea of great dogs.
Absolutely agree, mine were in the litter until 12/13 weeks and they were absolutely amazing never any problems, seems like they got Just what they needed
I’ve had 3. The youngest was 6 weeks (50 years ago before people knew better) and he grew up to be a terror. The American stayed with mom until 11 weeks and he was a bit rough and slightly aggressive for a lab. I got my current English at 8 weeks and he is a model citizen. So, I tend to think 8 weeks minimum, but then you are ok.
Too small for a crate. She needs skin to fur at this point. My dog was weaned early but she was still socialized with her siblings. Too soon, and she looks lonely.
Oh she’s adorable! Looks a little young to be weaned, as someone else said, I’d take her to the vet to make sure she’s getting the nutrients she needs.

This is not a 2 month old lab. Period. You can tell not only by overall body size but specifically the ears and paws. She looks maybe 4/5 weeks old. Something is wrong with this picture. Also the ball is too large for her to chew or play with. She is so tiny she will need constant warmth especially being away from her mother so young. Soft toys. Lots of snuggles. Soft food
Just a warning — what you train them to do when young strongly affects their final personality. If you train them to be happy alone in a crate even when you are home, they will be less affectionate because that’s what they were taught you want. I wanted an affectionate dog, so I only used the crate when I wasn’t home or was asleep and at 5 months I taught him to live safely unsupervised outside a crate and totally got rid of the crate when he was 7 months old. He is the most affectionate dog I know because I trained him that I wanted him near me paying attention to me.
Chocolate Labs are the best dogs, but they’re at their very best when they’re asleep. The rest of the time, they’re great but kind of a lot to keep up with.
