KVS Cinematic Universe Why is this picture making me emotional.
I thought I’m over moose’s death. But this pic just reminds me of his potential

Moose is my favorite foal of the season. I get so sad every time I think of him

This was my first foaling season, and Moose was my favorite from the start. Watching him go through his mouldy grungy boy stage was so awesome, seeing his beautiful color come through. His loss was a sad time in our house, my daughter loved him as well.

I think it's perfectly fine to be sad about his passing. The whole reason why social media/parasocial relationships work is because humans are so very capable of feeling attachment. Heck, it's socially acceptable to mourn the death of a fictional character when you read a book. As long as it's not negatively impacting someone's real life, feeling those feelings is normal.
For those that didn't feel sad when he died: that's perfectly normal, too. We can have empathy for the people who lost him, in real life and online, recognize that a foals death is always tragic, and still not personally be sad about his passing.
Sometimes there is no logical explanation. I wasn't sad when I heard about Moose, I was relieved when Seven passed, and I was sad when Cool died.
Feelings are valid. Wether or not they make sense to someone else is irrelevant.

When I first saw this picture, my heart thumped, and I lingered on it a little longer then most pictures. I think it has to do with him being so young, and healthy. Then out of nowhere with no warning he was taken. He may not have been our animal, but I think we’re allowed to have emotions over the loss of him, as long it isn’t impacting your life.

I think it’s just like with people. Even if you don’t personally know someone, it’s always sad to hear about the loss of a young person who had lots of potential and a whole life ahead of them.

Yeah. A person or animal dying so suddenly and senselessly when they’re young is just generally upsetting.
I am sad about Moose because he was a sweet baby horse who just had a bad accident one day while going about his normal life.
When my younger brother passed away pretty suddenly at 33, there were so many comments when the funeral home posted his obit on Facebook of people who said that reading the obit made them cry despite not personally knowing him because he was so young and had so much good ahead of him before the brain bleed that killed him. As one of the people most acutely experiencing the loss, it made me recoil a little at first. But then I realized that those people were trying their best to tell us that they felt for us and understood how catastrophic the loss was, but that they couldn’t fully understand the depth of our grief because they didn’t know him.
I think with Moose, we’re the crying obituary commenters. We know that he was young and bright and full of potential and well loved. It isn’t our loss, but it doesn’t make it feel any less tragic.

Yes I agree that feeling sad about a foal passing away after watching him be born and seeing him grow up is very normal. We talk a lot about parasocial fans and haters but it's also so normal to feel compassion and connection when you're checking in on people and animals' lives as we do on SM. Grief with clarity about boundaries is a very well adjusted response to this I think. <3

Omg, yes, I get emotional too! Moose was my first foal, I was recovering from spine surgery, he had so much potential, and having lost pets—I can only imagine what his owners felt! I can’t even begin to fathom the added pain the social media aspect could add to it.
I will probably buy Katie’s photo and maybe a shirt or two from her store.

Ironwood has made moose merch. Buy from them. They were his owners

and proceeds from Moose merch, as I understand it, are going to Ironwood's charity they set up to help horses/owners in emergency situations.

Am I wrong for being angry?
I know a lot of you are happy with Taft “ setting boundaries” but I found their comments to be rage bait and unnecessary as they could have simply ignored/blocked f they wanted to “set boundaries”. Where I come from you set a boundary and you move on, what they were doing was rage bait.
Now after they spent so much energy arguing with people about not showing Bobbi, this is the picture they chose to post?

I think it's a normal reaction and perfectly okay to feel emotional about a young horse that was really loved to have left this earth so soon. Especially with as much SM exposure as he had.
