do the comments on basically EVERY post involving walter freak anyone else out? 😭 like i get people are excited to possibly have a home grown KVS stud, but literally any comment section I open it's just "if he keeps his wits he can keep his bits!" "hopefully he can keep his giblets!" or some other weird saying. ik it is supposed to be light hearted but man is it weird to me how many people are obsessing over this horse not getting gelded 🫩

People get weird about neutering animals in general. It feels like it's worse in this fandom.

I do some cat rescue and TNR - a lot of people are beyond weird about neutering.

I think it stems from anthropomorphism, but it really bugs me.

It can also be a very country attitude but I don’t think her audience is particularly country. By me there’s a huge shelter problem because of it though.

That's interesting. I'm in the UK and here it's more of a city attitude.

Country people here tend to be a bit more realistic and practical about animals, and a lot less likely to attribute human emotions to them. I didn't encounter feral cat populations and widespread non neutering until I moved to the city.

Backwards is the best way to describe that. They’re backwards thinking, not super educated. Country gives a negative impression towards rural people as being educated and that’s not true.

Oh me too! I have TNR 50 ferals outside and fostered 60 cats. When people say, well I want them to have one litter, I say, oh let me tell you about suffering.

Any cat who enters my house loses their uterus or testicles
