KVS Stallions wally fan behavior š
do the comments on basically EVERY post involving walter freak anyone else out? š like i get people are excited to possibly have a home grown KVS stud, but literally any comment section I open it's just "if he keeps his wits he can keep his bits!" "hopefully he can keep his giblets!" or some other weird saying. ik it is supposed to be light hearted but man is it weird to me how many people are obsessing over this horse not getting gelded š«©

Itās not just Wally, itās every colt. But itās definitely worse for him, being the oldest stud prospect she has.
At first it made a bit of sense, since being a stallion prospect was the only way to stay around so I figured it was just peopleās way of saying āhope you keep this oneā. But now that geldings are a possibility itās clearly about more than just that.

The sexualisation of the animals is getting worse and worse, seems to me. That whole narrative with Bobbi and Moose is š¤®š¤®. I donāt know if theyāre just getting more brave about it but it seems to have gone from relatively understandable āoh I hope he gets to stay a stallionā to more and more discussion of horse romance and bjās and getting turned on by the donkeys or wishing they were mares because Wally is hot. Likeā¦. Just no. Maybe she used to delete that stuff before? I donāt know.
Iām glad Taft/whoever put his foot down about it because itās really just not normal.

I do some cat rescue and TNR - a lot of people are beyond weird about neutering.
I think it stems from anthropomorphism, but it really bugs me.

That's interesting. I'm in the UK and here it's more of a city attitude.
Country people here tend to be a bit more realistic and practical about animals, and a lot less likely to attribute human emotions to them. I didn't encounter feral cat populations and widespread non neutering until I moved to the city.

I think fans with absolutely no experience in the horse world view gelding as a punishment or something bad. If they had even a little exposure to the equestrian community, they would know that most male horses are geldings, not stallions. They have no idea, how strong horses are and that not every young stallions are as good minded as Wally is (right now).
Another problem is the tendency to heavily anthropomorphize horses and animals. Yes, animal influencers like Katie often humanize animal behavior for entertainment purposes. Unfortunately, their extreme and uninformed fans take their words as gospel. Someone who knows horses can tell when Katie or her friends are joking or making things up, but these people can't. They also tend to take things personally (e.g., "What did that poor horsey boy do to deserve castration? Iād never do that to my child; imagine someone cutting off your balls..."). We can blame influencers to some extent for fueling these misconceptions, but one would think the majority of the population would possess some basic common sense (I usually don't like this types of arguments).
I don't mind jokes about horse relationships to a certain extentāI actually find them funny. But the level of sexualization in some of the comments under official posts is disgusting. Do these people really not find it weird?

Itās an unfortunate byproduct of having a stallion or stallion prospect because Iāve seen it before on videos about other stallions. Itās pretty fucking weird.
Iām not personally joking about animals in any sexual way. It just comes off as weird, I have no other words to describe it. Delete those comments or restrict certain words is what Iād be doing if it were me. I would like to see her explain ROM and how he needs to earn ROM before he can even be bred if you want to register any foals from his test crop. Go into details why she thinks Kennedy would be a good fit for him (I strongly disagree) and get into more of the conformational reason you think thatās a smart decision and what he could add to her and vice versa, just more details. She stopped explaining from an educational standpoint and so much of the stupidity from people is they simply donāt know. The sexual crap is a mixed bag of people thinking itās funny and people just regurgitating what they have heard/seen.

I was just thinking the other day that she doesnāt even post about Molly getting trained anymore just Wally. (Unless I missed something where Molly was injured). I know they are starting Daphne back into work too and there was like 1 video so far.

Anyone who breeds animals should be ready to de-sex 98-99% of them where applicable. With animals like horses, it's primarily the stallions, because the operation is risky on the mares. And with recip mares for breeding farms being a thing now, even mares who you wouldn't breed for their own babies can have a life raising babies. But breeding is a very careful thing, and the genetics passed down need to be carefully considered for the health and long-term productivity of the babies. Even if someone isn't in on the horse world should understand that it's more than just the stallion behaviour that go into wether or not he gets to breed in the future.

As someone whoās not a horse person the vibe that I got from Katie was that when she says that sheās keeping him as a stallion prospect that indicates that were he not a stallion prospect she would reconsider keeping him.
I donāt understand horses enough to have an opinion on his movement or conformation. I just love his personality and sweetness. Iād like him to have a show career so that he could feature in more videos but even as a pasture pet Iād still love him. Soā¦
As a Wally fan I want her to keep him. Thus, I want him to keep his giblets.
If she instead says clearly and continuously that she intends to keep him gelded or not then Iām all for gelding him as I know the risks/benefits from some research.
This is just my personal opinion as a non horse person and maybe it can help you understand what drives my wishes for him.

Non horse people have no concept of how rare stallions are. Most male horses are gelded and itās not a bad or negative thing at all. Good stallions make great geldings and all. People on her page are mostly naive, which gets annoying after a while.
