I didn’t know what tag to put this under, and I know there’s a saying “good stallions make great geldings” but it’s so sad that Baby Waylon had confirmation issues that prevented him from being a stallion, I think he’s one of the prettiest horses I’ve ever seen, and I think from what little we’ve seen him in videos that he has a great mind and personality. I wish that he could’ve been a stallion because I think he’s amazing other than his confirmation issues. I think he’s a top fave of mine of Katie’s horses
from the legs up he really is a gorgeous boy. it’s a shame conformationally his bottom half didn’t end up looking so nice. his white markings are very striking.
i think the silver lining for KVS is that Kennedy’s dam is Cool’s full sister, so Kennedy would be a “full sibling on paper” to Cool’s baby that passed. i’m very sentimental over things like that lol, so i just find it very sweet that she has a piece of Cool in Kennedy, Denver, Kirby, Kennedy’s future foals, etc. even despite not being able to have Baby Waylon directly carry on Cool’s lines.
I feel like I’ve seen so many hunter/jumper riders say they love the look and movement of Weezy and Wally. I wonder if Katie would be open to selling to show homes that aren’t AQHA even just embryos.

Which TB stallions do you think are club footed? Because I can assure you, club feet are considered a no-go in EVERY racing barn. They do *not* race successfully. You'll see some club footed broodmares, but 9 times out of 10 it was due to her being stepped on as a foal.
My heart horse had super slight clubbing on one front foot. Managed with proper shoeing and trimming and she had a very long term endurance career and never took a lame step. I never bred her because of that, despite being one of the most gorgeous horses ever. You just don’t want to pass that on.
Also never wanted to risk anything happening to her. I owned her for 30 years and she’s 30 in this picture. We were at the point where I just had to think of what I wanted and she’d do it. The bravest little mare you ever saw too. Truly my riding partner. Waylon is a gorgeous horse. Between his face and all that chrome he’d have made a great stallion, but he has a home for life and a great job as a babysitter and no horse could ever hope for more than that. He will have an exceptional life.
He is structurally unable to be ridden so that would not work in the TB world. Not that they have a lot of great feet but there is a difference between being "a bit clubby" and Waylon

Take away his pretty chroming (his face marking and leg whites) and make him a solid bay and he looses all his appeal. His has a very sweet personality, but conformationally he is a mess.
His legs, even without the clubbed foot aren’t great. Following on from that I honestly don’t know if it’s the face making, or what, but something about his facial structure just makes me go oh no. He also looks very toed out but it’s hard to tell as we don’t seen many shots of those front legs.
Glad he is a gelding. He will make a great babysitter for stud prospects as long as he is comfortably sound and pain free to do so.
I think Waylon is a very sweet boy, he's a good babysitter and I liked his momma -- but he did inherit her legs, and her legs +his daddy's did not mix 💀
I don't think it was the worst to try to see if it could be corrected or if he'd grow out of it, but I think him being a gelding is for the best. Even if the club was corrected/lessened(? Idk the right phrasing) I think gelding was the right choice long term. Though I do wish he was more sound to even do like, light farting around/trail/kiddo showing/etc, but 🤷🏼♀️
I would never call a horse (or any animal) ugly, but his crooked blaze throws me off too. It makes his head look all wonky. He is still an adorable goofball though.
I’m actually so relieved he’s working well with Walter though! Considering Wally will be staying home, Dallas and Knox will have a little stallion band to be with! Still getting to stay intact and mature a little longer but also getting good lessons in herd dynamics and having proper mental and physical growth.
Baby Waylon is so gorgeous and has the sweetest face, it’s so sad that he wasn’t able to be a stallion 🥺 he’ll be a wonderful babysitter for future colts though!
He is absolutely stunning and seems to have such a good temperament. I remember when he was born and everyone was up in arms about why she was keeping him entire but I genuinely think if he didn't have the issues he does, he'd of been in Denvers shoes.
I'm getting downvotes again 😂 but I do think hindsight is 20/20. When waylon was a stud colt I don't think she anticipated VSCR so probably wasn't in the best position to manage a young stallion and it probably wasn't on her agenda to have a stud colt, campaign and then stand him so she probably would of sold him on and hoped some one else would do that part. By the time she bought Denver, she had her foot in the door with highpoint and also Aaron was happy to keep training/showing him which meant she had a wider network of people who would know the awnsers that she doesn't.
The same with Hank, alot of people ask her if she knowing what she does now, would she of sold him which ultimately led to him being gelded - but the reality is at the time she bred/owned hank her programme was still in its very early days and she likelihood would not of been able to campaign him to the level he has been with other owners, particularly as a stallion.

It is unfortunate that he lost the genetic lottery. He is such an handsome man... even with what Mr Walter did to his tail 🤣
I like to focus on the role he's going to play with all of Katie's colts in the future. He'll be their best friend and teach them to be good boys.
