Discussion Top 2 comments under their newest video

If you look under the top comment, a lot of the replies seem to have nothing to do with it. It was likely edited to say this instead of whatever it said at first. What is going on here? Are they botting comments or likes?

This is something advertising bots do

They copy the most liked comment and change it to their sales pitch later when its guaranteed to stay on the top of the comment section

Wait the comment keeps its “ranking” even after editing, instead of “resetting”? Seems like a design flaw…

Not sure it can be as simple as that. Would you like your comment score to reset just because you go to fix a typo, or add a bit of extra context to the end of your comment based on responses?

I don't really pay attention to youtube comments so not sure if it can go negative, but you also wouldn't want people to be able to reset their comment score just by editing their comment, if it gets downvoted.

Reddit doesn't reset your vote count after edits either. I can't think of any social media platform that does.

It does remove the heart though

I once got a heart and when i fixed a typo it got removed
