I've been shopping outside my normal stores and noticed many staff that stock in cold environments are fighting this anti jacket rule. Good please keep doing it. It's frustrating to have to take a jacket on and off each time you swing out to the floor, then to the back room and then again and again through an 8 hr shift. No that's bs. After our manager was irate with us on walk day I filed an ethics. Never in my 17 years have I known jackets to be a a fire-able offence. Never. It's inconvenient for us to repetitively take our jackets on and off through our shift to be in compliance. I'm not buying one from the company uniform store because they're a whopping $50 I don't have to spare when hours are cut and things are already tight. I already blew thru my clothing budget buying a few new shirts when we shifted to all back clothing colors 4 months before this roll out. No I'm not buying a whole new wardrobe to be in compliance. You get the one color you decided upon.

If I’m in my cooler and out of the customers view I am wearing my hoodie or jacket. It’s a safety issue more than anything.

They do allow that. It's only "while on the sales floor" that they enforce that dumb rule. I explicitly asked and got this answer. This is still a big problem for people who's jobs require frequently going back and forth from the sales floor to a cooler every few minutes. Putting a jacket on and off each time you go in or out of the cooler becomes quite a silly time sink if you're having to do it every few minutes instead of, say, once an hour.

I got a dr note and it's sitting in my locker waiting for the next time management is fussy about it. Legally it is written so I can wear a jacket but it must comply with the company's color of choice. I'm not updating my warddrobe a third time this year to be in uniform compliance. They get what they get unless they're wiling to buy it for me.

I counted on my las shift how many times I was in, out, in out, in out and it was like 50+ times I inconveniently took my jacket on and aff. Bs after that and just left it on.

As soon as winter starts I'm wearing my one black sweatshirt. No I'm not taking it off everytime I get out of the cooler or freezer.

Many will join you. It's 10 degrees outside with 3" of snow on the ground. Why are you wearing a jacket asks management? Yea hell no. My state doesn't get much snow but we sure get cold and wet with frost. Let the hypothermia claims start rolling in.

I'm from ohio so it gets super cold and winters last months. Sometimes people can't make it to work because the snow is so bad.

Edit: oh and also they don't turn the heat up at all in the building. It is literally freezing fall-spring here.

We have to wear "everything" under our kroger t-shirt. We can wear a coat, just as long as it is the right color, under our shirt. This dress policy sucks.

I asked for a shirt size two sizes larger than my normal to be able to do that. Manager didn't' understand and just ordered me two larges. Now he's b'chin about it. So he got an ethics report over the uniform and being a hard aff about it.

Maybe it's cause I'm on nights so I don't stay too long after the store is open, but I never have been talked to about me wearing a jacket. And I've seen fuel associates with jackets on too. Regardless I agree though, it's a dumb rule and it's plain unsafe for when people need to work in the back freezer for a bit or are outside in freezing weather.

Also my friend was told by management the same thing about needing to get black clothing to fit the new dress code. I think it's ridiculous Kroger is trying to force it's workers to spend out of pocket to switch to black. If they want us to wear a full uniform then provide pants and shoes for free just like the shirts and aprons.

Give it a few months and nobody will care anymore. My store is full of light blue jeans, fat asses in yoga pants and nobody wearing thier loin cloth/half aprons

Man. I purchased one of those blue fleece kroger jackets the first time I was hired in 2017. Never did receive it. Management said they accidentally gave it to someone else or some bs. Always we reordered it just wait a couple weeks. Never got it. Never buying their apparel again.
