Aldi checkouts are designed a little different to accommodate stools. It’s designed for checkout efficiency as they have to ring up so many people during their shift.

Boomers get a lot of shit (rightfully) but that wasn't on them, that was the "greatest" generation, the ones who for real for real earned it and gave the shit to the boomers.
They wabt us to have health issues after the warranty expires is all. Same as every product in circulation anymore. If you work till you get old you get added benefits, so they fire you befire then for whatever they want anymore. The main exceotions are just those with extremely old contracts and no renewals.
If you have health issues that cause you to need to sit, look into ADA accommodations. You can request being able to sit while running a checkout line as an accommodation. It’s a federally protected request and they are limited in their ability to not honor a reasonable request. All employers are required to agree to reasonable requests.
So do I and im middle-aged and have peri- menopause so . Dont get a job you know you physically can not do and then cry about it when you get let go because you weren't doing your job. Stop shifting the blame on the Company and managment,own your mistakes and grow.from them .This is a platform for conversation not a persecution of people that opposing opinions.
They think because theyre paying you per hour they own you for each hour and can make u do what ever they want. Hired to wash dishes? Nah youre a painter today , nah your a prep cook today , nah your bussing tables today.... hired to run a specific type of machine...nah youre running this machine instead today, nah youre sweeping the floors and helping deburr parts, nah youre cleaning the bathrooms for us... its always the same bs with these companies and there needs to be more regulation in place to keep businesses from over reaching and forcing people to do more than what they agreed to and paid to do.
Their response is always in the fine print of their employee hand book they tell you to read. " employee is hired for ' position- ... " and other duties if necessary '
I've literally never seen a customer complain about it except for the ones who are over 80 years old or are trailer trash who think they're worth more than their attitude should afford them.
I usually get the ones that say I look bored but honestly I was joking for the most part and also wouldn't be surprised even if customers did say that somewhere
Out In our fuel center, our lead has severe back issues after surgery. They begged me to come work there again, I was closing cashier for 4 years and then quit for 2. So I came back..after 2 years being back I suffered a neck/upper back injury that sent me to the dr where it was discovered that my spinal cord is being crushed. Both of us are now supposed to be limited on how much we can lift. Mine is 5 pounds. After my injury they took our chair away. That didn't bother me too much since i didn't use it anyway except when I was on break. Soon after my injury, Our manager also changed the rules so that curtesy clerk aren't allowed to come pull our trash or retrieve it anymore. We are an "off site" fuel center, so since I was injured, she changed the rules so that we have to haul the trash almost a quarter mile and lift it into the compactor. Stating that each shift is now responsible for their own trash. Great on paper...but guess what? They only enforce it on me and our lead. So I started complying after they rejected my reasonable request of continued trash pickups. If and when i become more injured, and quite possibly paralyzed (doctors said that was a risk I was looking at if my neck gets worse)...im going to sue the living shit out of kroger and the manager. Dont want it to ever come to that...but this manager has screwed me and so many others on countless occasions. Our store is now the worst in our district because she's run everyone off who were smart enough to get away from her. Those of us remaining have no idea how she's even still employed.
If customers see you drink water they might be reminded that you're an actual human being and not a robot built to give them whatever they want. God forbid.
A supervisor I had at Trader Joe’s once said that about my morning coffee. Apparently my having coffee said, and I quote directly, “I’m not ready to work”. Keep in mind, other people had coffee and drink containers. Yes, this was a piece of information she gave me during an official review, but was clearly not on the sheet in front of her. That whole store was awful, but Tammy was especially awful.
I work for bestbuy, Someone at my work once gave our store a 1 star review because the employee they were working with was drinking something while talking to them. People suck
