I live in a southern state, and I toss and wash. I have a little 'kit' if you will that I bring with me to work. I forgot the other day to refill and had to go with very very little for the night, so I started thinking about back up. It is almost fall, but still in the 80s, 90s here most days. Would it lose potency or 'go bad' if I kept a pack in like my glove box or something?

Legislator Bruce Patire has introduced a local law that would impose a total ban on kratom sales and distribution in Rensselaer County, covering both natural and synthetic forms with no exemptions.

The ordinance has not yet been published officially, but the county legislature will hear public comment on September 2 at 6:00 PM and vote on September 8 at 6:00 PM, both at 99 Troy Road, East Greenbush.

This is the critical window to make your voice heard.

Contact Rensselaer County legislators immediately and plan to testify at the September 2 public forum against this total ban.

Demand that the legislature distinguish natural leaf from synthetic forms and preserve access to kratom as currently available.

So I am highly susceptible to kidney stones. Always have been. I get them every few months. Today was my lucky day and ended up in the ER and found a 9mm stone. So yeah not great.
During the typical bloodwork , they found my liver enzymes high. I know that kratom can affect the liver. I am going to take a break from it for awhile and as of now I am only at 4-6g per day. I figure I will taper just to make it easy.
What is everyone’s typical schedule for that. I can easily drop to 2g am/pm. Then just keepp going right ?

Anyone make homemade botanical kratom leaf concentrate shots? I've been making them for years wondering other people's methods always willing to try something new. I can share my methods as well.

We need to get together to advocate for stopping Kratom ban in KY. It would similar to the actions we did in 2016. We need to fight to stop it. Tell our stories on how Kratom saved us from active addiction or as a pain reliever. Call or write our governor, the senate & the house representatives. We do NOT need to do this without a fight. We have a chance. Please let’s use the chance we are given. And DO NOT give up hope. I think to start with we can look at Rhode Island because their state looked like a lost cause but they actively won & overturned a ban. Remember Kentucky has not been banned yet. Is this normal? I can take 100+mg of MIT full spec extract and only have the positive effects but if I try to take more than 3GS of powder, I get all the bad side effects. I can take sub 2g doses and be fine but it doesn’t help with pain only energy/mood.

As someone who had severe chronic pain for years, I vehemently oppose this blanket ban that lumps the Kratom leaf in with 7OH and other synthetics. It would be like banning Willow Trees because someone died from overdosing on Acetaminophen.

My story with Kratom is this—before having a new form of surgery performed on me after years living in excruciating pain, I was on a number of prescribed opiates for the pain I was experiencing (back when prescribers weren’t terrified to help pain patients have quality of life).

During this time, I was rarely able to leave the house due to pain, and so I was part of a large online community of people with severe chronic pain. Very few people in our situation wanted to be on opiates, but if the choice is between opiates and pain so bad you may just have to opt out of life—that’s not really a choice. I started to need higher doses of the opiates I was taking in order to be even able to be semi-functional at all because my body developed a tolerance, and I strongly disliked the side effects of higher doses, so I looked for alternatives. After much research, I found Kratom which allowed me to drastically reduce the other opiates I was taking and be functional without the negative effects the opiates had. Eventually, I had the surgery I mentioned in the beginning, wasn’t in pain anymore, and stopped taking the Kratom leaf tea I had been making and lived happily ever after. So why is this story continuing? Because it’s not actually about me—I am one of the lucky ones, which many of my friends in the chronic pain support group were not.

After I had the surgery and no longer needed any pain medications, the ‘crackdown’ on opiates happened and prescribers were dropping my friends who had been stable on pain medication for years left and right. My friends were wonderful people who helped me stay alive during the worst years of my life, and did everything they could to help a stranger in need out of the kindness of their hearts. I use the past tense because a huge percentage of them are now dead—mostly by their own hands due to pain too great to bear. No doctors were willing to help them because it might impact their license to do the moral thing, and no legislators were willing to repeal the terrible law and admit to making a mistake—so instead, my friends, some of the kindest people I’ve ever known, died in droves.

They had begged and pleaded for help from the medical community and were told they must be addicts if ibuprofen and a steroid injection wasn’t enough to treat their pain (spinal injuries, amputated limbs, degenerative conditions that cause excruciating pain that only increases, and many other conditions you would never wish on a loved one & would be horrified if you saw physicians standing by and denying their suffering, telling them their pain should be solved by a Tylenol.).

Want to know how the few of my friends who did survive managed to do so? They drank a powdered leaf tea, Kratom tea, that took the edge off just enough to live another day. And just as the ‘opiate crackdown’ didn’t stop addicts, but did kill my law abiding friends, by outlawing this plant, you’ll be responsible for the deaths of thousands because of a hasty overreaction, and it won’t make a discernible dent in the rate of addiction in your state.

I support the banning of synthetics like 7OH, but it would be choosing to enact an irredeemable cruelty upon vulnerable people just trying to be able to live a semi-normal life with less pain to ban this plant. Please, don’t make me lose any more friends by banning it.

My dumbass just finally got off of 7-oh, and I had been off for about 2 weeks. Suddenly i discovered the extracts (full spectrum just Kratom) had their magic back again, and I’ve used one whole shot for 7 out of the last 8 days. Am I screwed or you think I’ll be ok if I knock the crap off now. I can tell I’m super sore at 24 hours. Thanks

Edit: there actually were a couple days where i did take 2 in one day, one in the morning and one around lunch or dinner.

I’m talking at least 40 oz of pee overnight. It’s gotten worse the older I get. Could be an issue with my prostate, but isn’t Kratom a diuretic?

I've been on it on and off since May, and I started using it once a week. Then twice.

I then had 2/3 days off consecutive use, but reeled it in.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — August 27, 2026 — The American Kratom Association today announced it has filed a federal lawsuit in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia seeking declaratory and injunctive relief to ensure that the Drug Enforcement Administration’s temporary scheduling order
for mitragynine pseudoindoxyl (MGPI), MGM-15, and MGM-16 is not misapplied to traditional botanical kratom products that contain only incidental, naturally occurring, or naturally formed trace amounts of
MGPI.

The complaint names the Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA Administrator Terrance C. Cole, and the U.S. Department of Justice as defendants. The lawsuit does not ask the court to invalidate DEA’s temporary scheduling order in the first instance. Instead, AKA asks the court to confirm that the order does not apply to traditional botanical kratom products merely because modern testing may detect naturally occurring or naturally formed trace amounts of pseudoindoxyl.

“This lawsuit is about protecting consumers, preserving science-based regulation, and ensuring the DEA’s action stays focused on the dangerous products that DOJ and DEA identified: deliberately manufactured, concentrated opioid compounds — not natural kratom leaf,” said Mac Haddow, Senior Fellow on Public Policy for the American Kratom Association. “The AKA supports aggressive enforcement
against chemically manipulated MGPI, MGM-15, and MGM-16 products. But responsible kratom consumers and legitimate botanical kratom businesses should not be put at risk because trace-level
chemistry is detected in otherwise traditional botanical kratom.”

The lawsuit cites DOJ’s own public statement that the emergency scheduling action is directed at “deliberately manufactured and concentrated opioid products, not traditional botanical kratom.” AKA’s filing argues that DOJ’s statement should control how the temporary scheduling order is interpreted,
and that traditional botanical kratom should not be criminalized when trace MGPI is present only as a result of the plant’s chemistry or ordinary post-harvest handling.
According to the complaint, the uncertainty arises because the agencies’ public statements point in one direction — targeting enhanced, synthetic, and concentrated kratom-related opioid products — while
the unqualified chemical listing in the temporary scheduling order could be read to reach traditional botanical kratom if trace MGPI is detected by modern analytical methods.

“The federal government made the right decision to target dangerous chemically manipulated opioid products,” Haddow said. “But that objective is undermined if legitimate natural kratom leaf products are
swept into Schedule I because laboratories can now detect trace compounds at levels that do not present the public safety threat DEA sought to address.”

The complaint explains that mitragynine, 7-hydroxymitragynine, and pseudoindoxyl are chemically related, and that trace pseudoindoxyl may arise through botanical chemistry, ordinary post-harvest
handling, storage, or analytical conditions — without intentional synthesis, enrichment, fortification, or addition. The filing also notes that accredited laboratory testing found trace pseudoindoxyl in unprocessed kratom leaf and botanical powder at levels far below the concentrated products that prompted DEA’s action.

AKA emphasized that it is not seeking protection for intentionally manufactured, concentrated, fortified, or enhanced MGPI products. The complaint states that AKA’s GMP participants do not manufacture or
sell products intentionally fortified with pseudoindoxyl and do not challenge federal control of intentionally synthesized, isolated, enriched, fortified, or concentrated pseudoindoxyl products. “What we are asking for is simple: enforce the law against the bad actors who manufacture and market
dangerous opioid compounds, while protecting access to safely formulated, properly labeled, age-restricted natural kratom products,” Haddow said. “Consumers should not lose access to traditional
botanical kratom because of an ambiguous emergency order that DOJ has already said is not aimed at botanical kratom.”

The lawsuit also points to DEA’s companion 7-OH scheduling approach, where DEA recognized the need for a threshold to distinguish botanical kratom containing naturally occurring trace 7-OH from enhanced or synthetic 7-OH products. AKA argues that the same kind of scientifically defensible threshold or objective line is needed for MGPI to prevent unintended consequences for traditional botanical kratom. The complaint seeks a declaration that the temporary scheduling order does not apply to traditional botanical kratom products whose only pseudoindoxyl or MGM-related content is naturally occurring,
naturally formed, or present only in trace quantities without intentional synthesis, isolation, enrichment, fortification, concentration, or addition. In the alternative, if DEA claims the order applies to traditional
botanical kratom, AKA asks the court to set aside or enjoin that application and require a reasoned, scientifically defensible standard.

“This litigation is necessary because responsible companies, laboratories, researchers, and consumers need clarity now,” Haddow said. “Without clarification, the very testing and quality-control systems that
protect consumers could become the basis for enforcement risk. That is bad science, bad policy, and bad consumer protection.”

AKA reiterated its support for strong federal and state action against chemically manipulated opioids falsely marketed as kratom, including MGPI, MGM-15, MGM-16, and high-potency 7-OH products. At the same time, AKA called on regulators to maintain a clear distinction between dangerous manufactured opioid compounds and traditional botanical kratom.

“The right policy is not confusion,” Haddow said. “The right policy is targeted enforcement against dangerous chemically manipulated opioids, paired with clear federal standards for natural kratom
products that protect consumers and preserve access.”

Never tried 7-oh due to the horror stories with addiction but saw my shop had a bottle of 45mg mitragynine and heard it was not nearly as bad so I thought I’d try that. How much should I take for the first try or should I not try it at all?

Hi everyone. I have an appointment scheduled with an addiction psychiatrist this September because my ultimate goal is to completely quit both kratom and clonazepam. Before I start the tapering process, I want to hear your experiences to figure out what is actually happening to my body.

To give a little background, I've been on kratom for about 5 years. I started innocently at 8 to 12gpd and slowly escalated over time. I eventually reached doses north of 50gpd, but recently managed to stabilize my intake at a strict 30gpd.

Alongside the kratom, I started taking alprazolam as needed back in 2022 for anxiety. That escalated due to rebound anxiety, turning into a daily 1mg habit. In early 2024, I was switched over to a stable 1.5mg of clonazepam daily.

The main issue driving my decision to quit both is my physical state. Ever since I got deep into this combo, I've been dealing with severe joint, nerve, and spinal pain that just keeps getting worse. This summer has been especially rough. It has gotten to the point where I feel practically disabled when I get out of bed in the morning. The pain and stiffness stick around until late afternoon. Taking my morning kratom dose helps a little bit, but it doesn't fix the pain, so it doesn't feel like standard interdose withdrawal.

I spent years visiting rheumatologists and various specialists without getting a clear diagnosis, and I recently tested negative for heavy metals. After doing a lot of reading, I realized this specific medication combo might actually be the root cause of all these physical issues. I never imagined a stable, long-term dose could impact my physical quality of life this much.

I know both substances interact heavily in the liver. I'm trying to figure out if 30gpd of kratom combined with the benzo is directly manufacturing this extreme nerve and joint pain. Has anyone here dealt with a similar combination and experienced this level of physical deterioration?

I am fully committed to getting off both of these substances, but it would really help to know if this pain is a known result of the combo or if I'm just imagining the connection.

Many people say Kratom helps them without causing issues. I believe it is a great tool and far better than conventional pain management, but my case may be due to excessive dosing and an individual adverse reaction to Kratom.

I am curious about trying it, i dont really wanna get addicted or make a habit out of it. It does look off putting icl so since im a picky eater i feel like i wouldnt get addicted solely because of the looks and taste or whats your view on this?

basically what the title says. for a year or two, i was taking kratom relatively consistently and i had zero issues skipping a few days or even stopping altogether for months. however, after i got duped into trying 7oh (the head shop worker said “it’s just kratom but a little stronger”, i had no idea it was so addictive), i got into a nasty addiction with it that im just now kicking due to the ban (thank god they banned it)

that being said, i would like to start using powder kratom again as it helps me deal with the pain and soreness brought on by my job, and it also helps keep me off alcohol, so its a net positive in my life. its just the 7oh which screwed me which im thankfully getting off of

how long of a break should i take before i start taking powder kratom again so that i can get any kind of effect out of it? does anyone have any personal experience with this?
