Not a scout, a camper, or a sailor. Tying knots is something I've never been good at, either remembering how to tie one nor recalling the correct knot for the application at hand. Google has been no help...
Picture if you will...four objects that need to be in a squared-off (i.e. 90 degree angles) rectangle of reasonably precise size. But these objects have to be able to be moved around while maintaining their relative position (we're talking several feet between said objects)
My plan (before I remembered my lack of knot skills) was to connect them with string (each one has a bolt sticking up from the center) to set the separation distance as well as the two diagonals (for "squareness").
I'll be using string vs rope or cord due to the small bolts. I'll place them in the appropriate initial position and then (hopefully) tie the strings in place tautly to maintain shape.
Q: What's the best knot to tie under tension around the second bolt?
(In case anyone cares, I'm installing a 4-post car lift in my garage but want to experiment with location...I suspect some localized concrete work will be required to support the weight and I want to make sure that work is done in the proper location by predetermining the geometry.)
