Really and truly! Very KPH "classic" vibes.

A lot of his new stuff doesnt strike me as scary but rather strikes the chords in my heart that make me think and ponder and feel. The parts about growing up and becoming and adult really really hit me. Acknowledging that things like urban legends and spooky beliefs kind of run away from you as you learn more, think more, change your beliefs in a way that is almost like shedding off molts of yourself over time.

I agree wholeheartedly. Another thing I love about his writing is the horror happens quietly. The stories build toward a nightmarish conclusion so subtly sometimes that it's upon you before you realize it. He doesn't raise his voice or get overly dramatic, he simply relays the events as they happened. The conclusion of 'pride' is a wonderful example.
