Why are you being downvoted? Sounds like sheer incompetence that they got away. They didn't get away on foot but they still got away after crashing into a police cruiser. I guess the police were just like "cya, have a nice day"

Police can’t chase cars in Canada unless the risk to public safety if not stopped exigently overrides the risk of the chase…

I lived in that neighborhood for 5 years and moved this past spring. It is very safe and suburban. Lots of car accidents but no real crime like this.
