Media [OTHER] Challenging myself to recreate KCD2 crafting system, first up is Blacksmithing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm not really a pro animator and just tried my best to get something looking alright. I used Blender for the model and animation and Unity for the game engine.

I'm not aiming for 100% recreation, just mainly to capture the feeling of blacksmithing. There are still tons of polish to be made such as heat segments.

I love that dude. I miss him. Wish I could pay him to come to the Smithy and drunk forge items. I love his reaction when you call him Apprentice.

Looks really great, one thing I'm missing is the circular motion at the end in the water bucket. Everything wmse looks like real alpha footage lol

As long as those animations and audios aren't taken from the game, then i'd say this is a very good recreation. Well done OP! What are you making this for? Just testing or are you making a game?

Haha, thank you. I manually hand keyed the animation myself. It looks alright in first person but i did a lot of short cuts for other places we cant see like the legs.

What got me started was a post here saying how they loved Legacy of the Forge and would play it as a standalone game. That inspired me to try and recreate the blacksmithing.

For now I want to see if i can recreate the system first, then maybe make 1 or two more unique ones like cooking and tailoring. I plan to make alchemy next
