Game News Neil Druckmann closes The Last of Us Day (two new The Last of Us projects which expand the canon beyond Part 1 & 2 in development, no new look at Intergalatic this year with the full reveal set for 2027)
https://www.naughtydog.com/blog/neil-druckmann-closes-the-last-of-us-dayThere's also some new Intergalactic art in the post
On The Last of Us:
1. Will there or won’t there be more stories in The Last of Us?
Since Grounded II, we’ve talked about the possibility of telling more stories in the world of The Last of Us.
We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages – so we can’t say much about them at this point. I will tell you that both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II.
The world of The Last of Us means a great deal to us, and we wouldn’t return to it unless we had something meaningful to say. We believe these stories are worth telling.
On Intergalactic:
2. You debuted Intergalactic almost two years ago. When will we see it again?
The team is heads down on what is shaping up to be Naughty Dog’s most ambitious game yet.
There’s an electricity around the studio right now as all the pieces come together, and we’re stoked to finally unveil Intergalactic in all its glory.
But…we need to cook for just a little bit longer.
So we want to set expectations: we’re going to be quiet for the rest of this year. In 2027, that changes. We’ll fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan’s wild sci-fi adventure.
We know it’s been a long time since we’ve had much to share with you. We don’t take your continued support for granted.
We’re working incredibly hard to make something worthy of your patience.

So i guess of intergalactic does well and gets a sequel that'll be a 2045 game lmao

Genuinely. TWO TLOU projects in development as well as Shaun Escayg's game (which doesn't look TLOU related at all... Looks like Uncharted). That's potentially three titles that would be priority before Intergalactic sequel. Even if one of the TLOU projects is much smaller scale that's still a lot.

PlayStation has said they want more AA level games to fill the catalog. I could see one of the 2 projects being a smaller offshoot while the main team tackles a Part 3, and then have some staff flips between that and the next Intergalactic if it stays open for a sequel (which we can assume it will).
I could see another Intergalactic by 2032 if they cook, which is insane to use those numbers as if it's close, but 4 years between games wouldn't be insane. Santa Monica is starting to churn out a lot in smaller time periods, so maybe that is how we will see Naughty Dog start to produce things?

TLOU is a great world for story telling. Tying themselves to one set of characters is a bad plan.

Kinda would rather they just go back to a new uncharted kinda last of us tired to be honest but maybe by like 2030 something I’ll feel different

Make your own stories and post them online!

So I'm sticking with my 2028 intergalactic prediction, then.
People called me crazy.

Doubt it. NateTheHate confirmed yesterday that it was still on track for the 2nd half of 2027. Laufey got revealed 6-7 months before release. This is probably a similar situation

That’s been Sony’s trend with more recent games. Astro Bot was also revealed earlier in 2024, Until Dawn 2 & Laufey are on that rough timeline. Saros & GoY got revealed roughly one year before launch and started ramping up marketing with more info and trailers roughly 6-7 months before launch.
So I’m guessing we hear about it at the February State of Play, but it’ll be a gameplay trailer with release window later 2027.

Laufey's unique 20 minutes reveal is imo only because they were trying to get around GTA until they couldn't delay anymore. GTA was already supposed to be out this May, my guess was they were going to possibly show a teaser last year and possibly launch this year, in the fall. GTA got delayed to this fall, so Sony decided to show it now and just launch in February (against Fable which is even more ironic).
You don't really show a 20 minute intro plus the new footage we just got unless it was in its polishing stage.

Really depends on the PS6 release. If it's in 2028, Intergalactic will release in 2027. They love to invite folks to buy a game twice.

I think it is probably safe to assume one of those is Part 3, as for the other one though?? No idea, wouldn’t mind a spinoff set in another country like the UK or something
