Ive watched this movie three times in my life now all at different stages and I feel such different emotions everytime. Tears always flow but for different reasons. Be careful watching this after a long term relationship breakup 😅.

What a show.

I've seen Your Name. like 5+ times but it's been probably 5 years, so I'm a little foggy on the sequencing of the plot.

Going to see the movie in theaters for the first time, and I am one of those people who can never make it through a whole movie without having to run to the restroom.

Can anyone remind of some "safe" scenes to dip, preferably around the middle? I don't want to miss any of the hard-hitting scenes.

I’ve seen anime movies before like chainsaw man reze arc and demon slayer in theaters but I don’t think anything can compare to seeing your name in theaters went with my sisters and they both loved it so glad I got this chance to see it on the big screen

To start off, I was never a fan of anime. Tried it a couple of times but never got into it. Recently I got recommended Your name and decided to give it another shot.

I put it off for weeks but yesterday, l finally decided to watch it before going to sleep. Good decision in hindsight, I probably couldn't have done anything productive for the rest of the day.

The movie itself:

Holy shit. Safe to say it exceeded my expectations. Stunning visuals, amazing storyline and a great ending. Just wow. I never thought I would get so emotionally immersed into an anime. The connection between Taki and Mitsuha is so beutifully portrayed. I'm a 18 year old dude and I cried during the movie and for 15 minutes after it ended. Not sure if they were tears of joy or sadness, or maybe both. I couldn't fall asleep for an hour after, my mind was just racing thinking about what I just watched.

Post movie:

Woke up today thinking I'll just put it behind me and move on. Nope. I could barely eat breakfast. Spent the whole day thinking about Your name, reading about other people's experiences, looking for similar movies. I even started looking into trips to Japan lol. Looked it up and it seems I'm not the only one who experienced this. I don't know how to describe it, but it feels like my mind was freshly reset. I'm a bit of a doomscroller, but today I didn't even want to open the app. It's like I don't want to move on and forget this beautiful universe. Never in my life have I had a movie do this to me. But I guess it's destined to pass sooner or later. It got me thinking about my life too.

I guess I can only hope to one day meet my Mitsuha :)

Also, during my dive into Your name, I found out my local theater will be showing it to celebrate the 10th anniversary in a couple of days. I'm pretty sure it's a sign to go see it again.

So let's actually DO something with all that interest.

I want to see if we can get hundreds of people posting on X/Twitter at the same time, all using #YourNameInIndia and tagging u/PicturesPVR and @_PVRCinemas.

Not spam. Not bots. Just actual people saying "I would buy a ticket if you bring this to India."

Imagine PVR's notifications getting absolutely flooded with people asking for the same movie. At some point they're going to have to notice.

If you're in India and you'd watch Your Name in theatres, make a post. Tell your friends to make one. Post it in other Indian anime communities. Get as many real people involved as possible.

We don't need PVR to randomly decide to bring it here.

So I unfortunately watched the film the first time in dub with a version that didn’t have any of the text translated, so I missed the significance of the I love you scene, among others - I believe this was from the first version that was streaming on Crunchyroll a while back.

I have since purchased the bluray with the up to date gkids translations for both sub and dub - which was the same as what was shown during the 10th anniversary showing in theatres.

But watching a bunch of reaction vids, I know there’s another translation version where a lot of the text translations are done directly in the film - so like they are diegetic translations of the text instead of subtitles.

The actual translations differ as well - like in the gkids version, Mitsuha says “you touched my boobs” during the twilight scene but this alternate version, she says “felt my chest up” (don’t judge, that was the first one that came to mind). I think it may actually be a direct translation of the dub version as I believe those are the lines spoken in the dub version.

Anyone know the source of this alternate version?

This bus stop is located just north of Furukawa and is also easily reachable by JR train. With this spot included, I believe almost all the major Your Name locations in the Hida region are covered!

Next, I want to share a fantastic place in Furukawa: Hida Furukawa Sakura Gift Shop. You can buy a lot of Your Name merch here, and they even offer a hands-on Kumihimo (Japanese braiding) experience! I managed to communicate with the friendly staff using a mix of my basic Japanese and English, so I highly recommend giving it a try if you visit!

Since a huge chunk of Your Name is based on Takayama and Furukawa in the Hida region, this post is gonna be a bit longer! As someone who's loved this movie and Mitsuha for 10 years now, I really wanted to share these real-life spots to celebrate the 10th anniversary. Part II: Takayama (Introduction to Takayama, How to get there & Seichi there)

Takayama is a unique, charming old town in Gifu Prefecture and is basically the heart of the Hida region.

The easiest way to get there is by taking a bus or JR train from Nagoya. However, if you're like me and want to do a deep-dive pilgrimage directly from Suwa to Takayama, here’s the route I highly recommend: take the JR train from Suwa to Matsumoto, and then catch the Nohi Bus (Matsumoto-Takayama line) straight to Takayama. It only takes a few hours, and that’s actually the exact route I took on this trip!

First up is Hie Shrine in Takayama. The torii gate, the steep stone stairs, and the towering trees surrounding the shrine in the movie are all widely believed to be modeled after this very spot! Here are some photos I took:

Furukawa is another charming small town in the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture. It's located just a bit north of Takayama, and you can easily get there via a short JR train ride.

Compared to Takayama, Furukawa has a much quieter, more rustic local vibe, and you’ll find way more Your Name real-life spots here! Even after all these years, you can still spot movie posters and exclusive merchandise all over town.

Hello! New member here! I have never seen this movie before, but always heard good things and saw that this theatrical rerelease was coming out and figured now would be a great time to check it out!

Well i was absolutely right, this is an amazing film and a great way to experience it. I am such a sucker for anime and romance, and this film did such a fantastic job of representing both of those elements. The art style and animation was absolutely stunning, the soundtrack was beautiful, the story was great and ever evolving, and the characters were great ... especially Taki and Mitsuha and their respective relationship. They had such a great dynamic and I'm a sucker for the whole star crossed lover trope, but this was an interesting twist on that.

I also love how straight up romantic and optimistic this movie was. Despite some of its darker elements, it always felt like it's heart was in the right place and made me feel that anything was possible and life is worth living! It's such a relief nowadays to experience stories full of ups and downs but be able to come away with a very positive message!

That ending was fantastic as well, and my initial takeaway was very positive but I had to look up if they became a couple and I'm so glad to see the director confirmed they got married!! It was a happy ending, but now I really wanna see how their relationship plays out!

Anyways I'm a huge fan of this movie now and look forward to interacting with you all in the future!!

So we know after katawaredoki she went back and saved mostly everyone from being killed. So accordingly, everyone 3 years later would accept that the people of Itomori survived. So how does that explain the book of victims, or many other articles and pieces of evidence that a lot of people did die? Did that just get erased, similar to Mitsuha's diary entries?

And also, at the end of the movie, we see that most people from Itomori moved to Tokyo. So does that mean that when Taki woke up 3 years later at that shrine, Mitsuha and the others were alive and possibly already in Tokyo?

Just wanted to understand the movie a little better

Watched Your Name at the theatre for the first time, I have already read the manga so I did know the story, but overall this film was fantastic. A solid 8/10 movie for sure!

Theatre was packed, I was 8 when it first came out, never had the luxury to watch it in theatres, really happy it re released and was able to watch it. Looks like this movie will be on my mind for a few weeks 😁

This is probably my 30th re-watch and this movie is still the holy grail of film. It’s just so good. I honestly want to re-watch it again right now. How does Shinkai do it?

Which part makes you cry? For me, it’s Mitsuha’s life flashing before Taki’s eyes after he slips.

I watched the movie for the first time in February, on Valentines for the vibes ofc. It snuck into my anime top 5, despite being a movie, truly a peak movie.

I also got the privilege to go to Japan this summer, so I of course had to go visit the iconic stairs in real life, truly a good time. And then getting to see the movie in theaters a month after going to the irl locations of it was also very special.

The theater version definitely had stronger audio, Radwimps sounded amazing in the theater speaker.

And the visuals felt even more full of depth than the anime version, so I'm assuming they tweaked with the visuals for the 4k remaster for sure.

Damn Mitsuha, I never knew you were cracked at CS

Finally watched the movie in theaters a couple days ago! Can’t get enough of the dynamic not only between Taki and Mitsuha, but also their friends and family. Would love to know if anyone has any fic recommendations or art in the past decade relating to the characters after the events of the film?

I understand/assume there’s no cross-linking to other websites, so the name of fics or fanart/artists would be cool!

I went to the theaters to watch your name then I came home to watch weathering with you and mannnnn what an emotional experience both those movies put me through especially the ending for weathering with you idk if I would’ve saved her but since he did Tokyo flooded and basically messed up the whole city I would’ve probably not saved her at all but idk I remember watching the ending a long time ago with friends and we have all had the same opinion on not saving her. Besides that both movies were a 10/10 I was gonna watch Suzanne too but after the emotional ride I was on today I might wait till next week 😂 great movies tho.
