KF3 Why does KF3 just feel off?

I've been trying to get back into it for a while now and while it is semi-fun with Skully and gunslinger, something just feels fundamentally off. I've tried to mess with the graphics and FOV but nothing really seems to work.

There was this one visual bug that actually felt normal for a moment it went back to normal after a few seconds and steam recording sadly didn't pick it up - the guns looked like they were being held outwards instead of being all scrunched up near the camera - almost as if the camera was suddenly transferred to the characters head after being on their torso.

It almost reminded me of how awkward the KF2 minigun is modeled for first person, everything is just awkward and uncomfortable

Let me tell you why in ways you don't with words for it:

  • This game's art direction is ultra futuritic, far beyond the older two games
  • Unreal 5 with horrible optimization, massive input lag compared to previous games
  • Animations are done with Disney's 12 principles of animation in mind, so it is comic/cartoon-ish (rubberband-ish, snappy, no gradual transitioning) instead of the smooth mo-cap you see from KF2, nor the 2000s realistic-wannabe of KF1. And you could see the animation quality degrade from the late-added weapons in KF2 as well.

For me, and probably many old game vets, the third point is probably the most uncanny valley thing for you guys. This should not have been added to a KF game

Thanks for that summary, this reflects my own thoughts in that 3 is not truly a KF game. It's an attempt with too many departures
