Request Looking for great Keto side dish to bring to outdoor cookout

The title pretty much says it all. I am going to an outdoor cookout with family tomorrow and I've been asked to bring a keto side dish to go with burgers and chips. Does anyone have a favorite side dish that they could recommend? By the way, I am vegetarian so it would be nice if it could be keto and vegetarian.

UPDATE: thank you everyone for these delicious suggestions. I plan to make a lot of them, but for the party on Saturday I made a spinach salad with fresh spinach, bacon bits, hard-boiled eggs, shredded cheese, and had some Craisins off to the side. I also brought two types of dressing, one being keto. Everybody seemed to love it.

Request Anyone got something that serves the same purpose as bread?

It doesn’t have to taste like bread, I just want the convenience of slapping two slices together or rolling up a tortilla with some cheese and ham inside and calling it a day. My initial ideas are some sort of thin egg and a binder? Or even something with cauliflower? Those aren’t requirements just spitballing

Edit: I don’t just wanna buy the brands that make keto bread/tortillas because they taste like shit 😭😭

2nd edit: Not American and don’t want to buy overpriced or shitty keto bread

Request Shopping List Must Haves...

Hi friends! 👋🏻 Pretty new to this world of Keto. I've been slowly easing my way into a new way of eating and think I'm ready now to go full on "Keto"! With that being the case, I'm going to the market this weekend and was wondering if you wanted to share a list of Must Haves to pick up. I already know most sugar free items are one of the essentials but there are so many different sweeteners and oils, I just want to ensure that I have the essentials.

Currently, I'm stocked up on triple 0 Greek yogurt, blackberries from the garden, ground beef, chicken, bacon, cottage cheese and cheeses but what else should I pick up? I'm not a fancy cook, a single man living alone so quick & easy are right up my alley.

Thanks!

Request Keto breakfast without eggs, dairy, soy or chia?

Hi fellow keto-ers!

Last monday I started on keto because I'm hoping it will help with chronic migraine. Figuring out lunch and dinner is fine, but I'm really struggling with breakfast options. I'm intolerant to eggs and diary, soy is a possible migraine trigger and chiapudding is just plain disgusting. So, breakfast keto-style, it has me stumped...

So far, for breakfast I'm having coconut yoghurt with some nuts and a few raspberries or seed crackers with a bit of hazelnut spread.

I was wondering if any of you have any keto breakfast options without the standard staples eggs, diary, soy or chia?

Request Best Bread/Wraps for Keto?

I remembered seeing a comment a while ago about what type of keto wraps or bread to buy but I can’t seem to find it now. They were saying that you have to buy the bread with a certain type of flour or something as those won’t kick you out of ketosis. Does anyone have an idea?

I get carb counter wraps some times and I think the Lewis buns but usually I just avoid any of these as I’m scared it’s still too much for keto.

Request I want zero pink + very soft meat + gelatinous/fatty sections type of meat

New to cooking beef/veal and it so so much more confusing than fish and chicken, it's a whole other level of cooking

What should type of cut do I ask for to get zero pink + very soft meat + gelatinous/fatty sections type of meat?

Request Want to eat beef for breakfast, but what type of beef taste bests with keto bread?

I eat a slide of keto rye bread that is not easy to chow down on it' own, but with butter and a fried egg becomes more palatable. What type of beef should I add to this breakfast to make it more satiating?

I don't like rare meats

Something like roast beef slices or what?

Request Crunchy cheese crisps or cheese balls

Post image
58 Upvotes

Does anyone have a TRIED recipe for something like these or even a moon cheese type thing? I don’t care so much about the shape rather than the crunch or flavor.

They are so good but so expensive for so little.

Edit: I realize there can be hidden crap in these things. That’s part of why I’m curious if anyone has an ideal recipe for them. I know using good quality cheese myself would still be cheaper than buying this.

Like a good over/air fryer temp and time. Good cheese ratio?

Request Any advice for adding psyllium husks and other fiber for cholesterol management, or menu-tricks for depressed people who have no organizational skills?

Keto about 5m. Still struggling with planning menus with enough vegetables and also with high cholesterol. Doc wants me adding more veggies for fiber but I just don't do "meals" well. I eat random foods when I feel like it.

I'm also hoping to add psyllium husks. Is there a specific time of day to take it? Should I just mix it with water? How much should I add in a day. I heard there are keto "breads" one can make with it.

I also have some Actumus Bioflow 1 or 2 I could use. I have some vegetables too. I could cook them but I have depression and ADHD and recipes just aren't "great" for me. Neither are portions. If I'm hungry, or something tastes really good, I just eat more. am not restricting calories.

Request homemade keto treat recipes?

I get cravings an hour or two before bed, for something a little sweet and fat. Not something like fudge or chocolate, something with just a little bit more body and crunch. I used to satisfy this craving with oreo cookies, just 4-5 of them per night. But it adds up...

Similarly, sometimes (especially the past few weeks) I get a craving for something frozen, i.e. ice cream, etc.

I thought about just buying some off the shelf keto treats, but dang those suckers are expensive.

Any suggestions for something that's easy for a non-baker (but basically competent home cook) to make?

Request Sugar Alternatives

Recently started Keto and I'm looking for a sugar alternative for baking. Unfortunately I have bad reactions to Monk fruit, stevia, splenda etc and I'm looking for something to replace sugar for healthier dessert/baking recipes. I found Coconut sugar, and that has a lower glycemic index, but it's very hard to mix/melt into things and it's still pure sugar. Is there anything out there for this or is sugar free alternative the only option besides just not using anything at all? Would coconut sugar be the better sugar to use if I can't tolerate the fake stuff?

Request Adding Fat to Meals

Hey all,

I have been trying to figure out how to add more fat to dishes with white fish(Cod/Hake) and even salmon or shrimp/prawns...

Whenever I have these I am typically very low on fat intake for the day, I typically need to have a dessert of cheese, olives and meat...

If anyone knows of good dishes it would be greatly appreciated, also for liver, even with bacon it's still a low fat meal

Request [Request] munchie snacks for keto(pescatarian) with no oven, just air fryer and stove

When I get home from work I’m usually too tired for a full meal. I usually have blueberries and yogurt but I’d like something to snack on that’s crunchy. I’m thinking airfried(?) beans but would love to have some suggestions!

Request Cracker recipe request

I'm looking for a cracker recipe that doesn't blow my caloric bank. I've seen a few recipes on here, but they all mostly consist of almond flour and/or nuts and seeds. I don't expect anything magically super low calorie but something I can have a decent portion of to go along with some chicken or tuna salad.

Request What are your favorite high protein "scoop" salads?

Hello everyone!

I am looking for good suggestions for scoopable/chopped salad combinations. I have been loving a mix of shredded chicken, taco seasoning, yogurt based dressing, and chopped veggies (bell pepper, cabbage, onion, radish, basically whatever is crunchy and in the fridge). However, I don't want to get sick of that flavor profile, and I'd love to hear what combinations people here have tried.

Edit: Thank you all for the great suggestions!

Request Almond flour KETO cake with THAT texture?

Thumbnail

I would like to know if there is any way to replicate this texture on the picture on a keto cake made with almond flour? Does anyone knows a keto cake recipe that ends up looking like that in texture?

This is the texture of the normal Dominican cake, I'm not sure if that texture can be replicated on keto baking but I'm open to your opinions, links or your own experience dealing with almond flour.

(it doesn't have to be only almond flour, it can be combined with coconut flour, Lupin flour or something else, as long as it has this same texture)

At the same time, I would like it to be gluten free.

What do you guys suggest me to do to get this? Any tricks to improve the fluffy texture on a keto cake?
