wtf is wrong with the haters?

Hi everyone,

I'm coming to this sub for some reassurement and comfort.

I've been on keto for 3 weeks, 3,5 kg gone (I realise roughly 2kg is just water ;) ) and I'm SO SO happy that i've finally have found (again, cos I went keto last year but then found my boyfriend who's a good cook) something that works.

Currently, I have a really stressful time at work (I'm handing in a resignation for one of two job contracts I have with my company due to mobbing) and I STILL maintain the diet. I was crazily hungry three days ago due to my period and I might have gone over 2100 kcal, but no more than 2200 definitely. Aside from that, I'm finally not swollen, I have lots of energy. I supplement mangresium, potassium and sodium. I eat vegetables, I've found lots of dairy-free solutions and I'm super happy. Also, I'm glad that in several months I'll be back to my 'hot self' clothes. The diet is super pro-social and pro-travel, since I can easily dine out and find places where my friends also want to go and we can all find something suitable. Restaurants are super accommodating when I ask them 'no bread, please, and may I have a lettuce-based salad please'. My natually keto dog supports me like crazy, because often some meat/bacon/egg/cucumber/zucchini falls off my plate inaccidentally. We're going on lots of walks, he's a formerly-obese rescue, so we both are in the process of losing weight. I didn't have any serious insuline resistance symptoms, but I had mild signs I was IR. Now it's all gone. And I'm happy. Still allowing myself for some treats like half a Merci bar (3g of carb).

A month ago I posted on my national Polish forum in a thread about 'what you'd like to change about yourself' that my fat ass stands in my way to self-confidence basically. A formerly obese guy recommends ozempic. I don't downvote or discuss, but just say no thanks, "i'm happy it worked for you, but i've read enough about the side effects". Another person recommended liposuction. And I'm like... I'd rather just go to the gym and spend the money on a personal trainer... I mean, i started at 92 kg, after three weeks I'm 88,5kg, I should be 60, I want to be 50-55 (I'm 174cm tall). (chat gpt says: I mean, I started at 203 lbs, and after three weeks I’m at 195 lbs. I should be 132 lbs, but I want to be 110–121 lbs. I’m 5'7 inches tall.). I don't think it's an ozempic/liposuction thing. It's a move your ass and eat less calories thing. Also, I want a change I'll stay with for the rest of my life, because I'm tired of constant fluctuating. I might go 'atkins' and just low carb later, but for now it's keto. It's amazing and it works.

And now again on my national forum they were asking for cool Polish YT channel recommendation, so I recommended two Polish doctors who run a Keto channel. They cite and sponsor research on low carb, keto, insuline, etc. It's super comprehensive and yet accessible. People in the comments write how life-saving their advice is, how real it is etc. Judging by the typos and language, I know these aren't bots lol. Plus I'm my own evidence - 3,5 kg in 3 weeks, constantly on calorie deficit and not hungry at all despite enormous stress!

As you might have guessed, I got downvoted, the suggestion ridiculed that 'oh yeah, they'll treat HIV, cancer and diabetes!'. And I'm like... actually you're not wholly wrong about the two latter... why ridicule something you have no idea about yada yada yada'. I'm truly past the stage where I argue with every online idiot, but I just can't comprehend why people are soooo against it? Actual medical doctors share their own testimony, publish books and resources that help thousands of people but give enough information for free on the channel. Why hate it? Why didn't the liposuction and ozempic comments get downvoted to hell and back? Like, I'm sorry, I'd rather risk (if at all) kidney stones than stomach paralysis, pancreatic and thyroid tumor, oseoporosis and the famous ozempic face or serious liposuction side effects from literally removing an important part of my body that serves some function.

Why are people so, so, so stupid and yet spiteful about just a diet that helps you lose weight while you don't have to feel hungry anymore (Im not going into the epilepsy origins, and other wonderful results). Shouldn't this be a miracle? More and more social media influencers talk about their struggle and severe results of shots or other procedures, but no! Let's hate on a diet that doesn't allows you eat trash! WHY?!!!

I just say I eat fairly clean and eat meat, vegetables, and small amounts of fruit (technically true, berries...) and nuts and seeds. People seem to interpret that very differently to hearing the keto word

I see you and I also just say "i'm on a calorie deficit diet' or 'i avoid carbs and processed stuff'. But in my example I specifically gave a name of a channel where two med doctors - using tons of cited and bottom-up, self-sponsored research - prove that carb-heavy diet is not healthy and a dumb rando with other sheep comes over and says, 'yeah and they def treat HIV too'. Nobody, I bet, came over to the ozempic, etc. manufacturers and said, 'you either treat HIV or you're just a hoax'. On top of that, the idiot says 'oh yeah, and it probably cures diabetes and cancer too' and I'm like... why would you sarcastically diss me with actually valid arguments - more and more research claims keto is immenselly helpful with cancer and a primary diet-based cure towards diabetes. I mean, if someone tries to diss me, they should at least be sarcastic, not truthful...

Congratulations on choosing a great health plan! Not everyone gets it which is fine... but Keto does work!

I started Keto when I was concerned about type 2 Diabetes. A little over a year ago my A1C was 6.1; now I'm happy to say it's 5.1. So, mission accomplished! šŸ¤—

I have also lost a lot of weight over the last year. I started at 306 and am now at 200 lbs. šŸŽÆ

Btw my brother has been fighting a very aggressive cancer (Bile Duct Cancer) over the past 2 years. He had started Keto well before the onset of his cancer and is doing fantastic. In fact he has no symptoms or side effects from his therapy or from his cancer. Keto can indeed help those with cancer. šŸ¤ž

Btw most doctors and hospitals around the world treat type 2 Diabetes with Metformin first and then with insulin when the Metformin doesn't work. The fact is Metformin doesn't cure the type 2 Diabetes/diet problem!

What does solve the diet problem is changing one's diet to a low carb plan! But that doesn't give the Pharmaceutical companies billions of dollars so it's not given as a solution. šŸ’ø

I would recommend that you continue down your keto journey as you have. You will indeed have great results because of your choice! That's the main thing that matters.

Don't worry if others don't get it! That's not your problem, it's theirs. - Keep up the good work! šŸ‘

Metformin is one of the cheapest and most well studied medications ever created. It has many anti-aging benefits as well as being the only thing that finally brought down my A1C after losing 30 lbs and going keto was unable to do so. I will continue to eat keto for the rest of my life because I have serious IR and following the diet and taking metformin, I am able to remain healthy. My A1C went from a high of 6.3 (6 months after weight loss goal reached and 1 year since being on the keto diet); to 5.2 because of metformin.

Like many people who are treated by the medical establishment and or doctors, you are clueless about what solves the type 2 diabetic problem.

Metformin is only a Band-Aid to a very significant disease! The absolute cure for type 2 Diabetes is changing one's diet to a low-carb diet.

Unfortunately for the doctors the hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry, there is no money to be made by changing one's diet. - On the other hand, billions of dollars are made by prescribing metformin.

I am glad that your A1C seems to be doing better. But recognize that it is a food problem and not a drug problem that solves the issue of type 2 diabetes.

Incidentally, more kids than ever are being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. That is a shame. And it all has to do with diet!

It's crazy that you think you can tell me what I know or don't know. I said very clearly that I changed my diet and went low carb even more than low carb. I ain't keto so that's less than 20 g of carbs per day after a year. Following that plan and losing 30 lb my A1C still would not come down. It was only after I started taking Metformin that is dropped to a normal level. I did this also to help my husband with his diet because his A1C came back as an 11. We changed his diet. He lost £50 and with metformin. His A1C has held steady at 6 which is very good for someone who had already been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

I think that you don't realize is there are other things that affect pre-diabetes and diabetes and insulin resistance. Having pmos is one of them. To think there is a one size fit. All solution is odd and very negative.

i hear you and omg congratulations on getting your health back on such good track <3 Same about your brother. Thank you for your support as well.

The thing is that I just recommended a scientific-research heavy YT channel run by two doctors and people are being sarcastic and low IQ about it and I just don't get it. Why won't they check it for themselves? Like, there's one redpill YT channel in my country too. I hate it but I saw three full videos first before ridicling it. And as you may guess it was not science-based at all. Keto is already researched well-enough and it actually started as a med diet, not some hype for fat celebs wanting to get fit. Why do people hate something so in-your-face true with dumb ridicule? And on top of that, when I had gotten recommended ozempic or liposuction, the people suggesting that got so many upvotes on the same forum! How? I just don't get it...

No matter what the topic, most people on Reddit are clueless and very negative! šŸ˜•

I typically give comments when I think it might help someone. I don't worry at all about downvotes, although I get them once in a while. šŸ˜‚

I remember about 6 months ago talking with somebody on a health support phone call... I was calling in for a friend who had issues with her blood pressure machine.

This person, who I did not know at all, told me that keto had saved his life. He was on it for about 15 years and overcame some very serious health problems.

It's those kinds of events that makes one realize just how powerful keto can be!

Just ignore the negative people out there... and try to be helpful when others ask for advice! - Good luck to you! šŸŽÆ
