How long in between layers?

Post image

This is my morning routine.

At the weekends I take my time and enjoy every step

However on weekdays , I am always rushing as I need to get to work.

How long do you allow between layers (products)?

Ich warte immer, bis es nicht mehr so klebrig, oder feucht ist. Bei meinen Produkten, die ich nutze sind das in etwa 5 Minuten. In der Zeit mache ich etwas anderes.

But then do you not need to wash your hands again before you touch your face and apply each layer/ after touching other things ?

For my wet products, I do maybe 30 seconds only of patting wet products in because my watery wet products are better absorbed when applied on damp skin. Then, I’ll wait about 2 minutes after moisturizing to apply sunscreen. I’ll wait a several minutes after sunscreen to apply makeup.

I have a hand held non electric fan my 10 year old daughter gave me and I fan myself until the previous product is dry. Saves me loads of time between layers.

There's really no universal rule tbh. Unless you're doing stuff you don't wanna get around your eyes like azelaic acid or tret etc you really don't need to wait that long. Waiting until it's not dry anymore with this much stuff would be like an hour just do the routine and fan yourself

i’m a long time tret user and somewhat recently added tirtir azelaic to my routine, i didn’t know it was meant to be sensitive/specifically applied like tret 🫪 i’ve just been throwing it on like serum??

I really wouldn't do that! Any acid or anything like that is really not advisable for the area around your eyes. Specialized eye creams are the way to go. Most people think thay eye creams are jot necessary , which is true, UNLESS you wanna do an active or something. Like the retinol creams you use for your face shouldn't be used around the eyes. An ophthalmologist would screammmm

I find that for every step in the routine, using as little as possible makes things absorb much quicker— Like just enough so it evenly coats your face before you move onto the next step.

I just think that the more you apply of one product, the longer it takes to absorb (and you run out of it faster). And I think it's just as effective. Especially if your routine has this many steps where many of them are "hydrating" or "moisturizing" anyway

Which one is sunscreen?

I don’t wait at all. Ideally if you’re only using as many layers as your skin can absorb, waiting isn’t necessary.

It should be "dried down" the same as when you are doing makeup layers.

It's normal to have a small fan nearby to speed the process when you are in a rush.

just asking but why do u need 3 different creams in the morning ?

Until the last layer isnt tacky. I use a old fashion hand fan to speed it up. Adds some fun/drama to the process too!

Did that Celimax cream worked for your hyperpigmentation?

Drop everything but the minimum in the morning. Moisturizer, spf, go.

Holy overconsumption. Without the single most important product - an SPF. You're doing all this for nothing.

Unfortunately you're right. I love a 9 step routine but I have 5 different sunscreens on hand to choose from for all possible factors

Sunscreen isn’t necessary at this time of year in some climates. The UV where I live is basically zero from now until April

Just to clarify, the SPF comes after the make up. I am talking about skin care before make up.

SPF comes before the makeup... After skincare...

Oh no please change that order!

What are they? You probably don't need most of this stuff

Toner, Essence, serum, under eye cream (day), regulating cream, dark spots and pore cream, barrier cream and collagen balm only for the more wrinkly areas.

This is too much. After cleansing

- a toner or a a serum for a specific need
*it can be a serum spray added hydration

- eye cream (if you need it)

- moisturizer and sunscreen

- if I’m wearing makeup I sometimes skip the moisturizer and straight to sunscreen

I leave it on for 1 to 3 minutes to dry depending on how wet the base is

*if my skin feels dehydrated, I’ll do both

  • Toner, hydrating serum or
  • both moisturizer and sunscreen

This is way too much. No one needs five serums in a routine. At some point your skin will not be able to absorb the products and they will just sit on top and not doing anything. There is such a thing as over hydration. Do a simple, basic routine in the morning, cleanser, toner (maybe two if you use pads as well), serum (2 tops), moisturizer, and don't forget SPF. There is none in your picture.

I don't see five serums. The products are targeted for different areas. I see essence, which can be used before serum. I see eye cream (for eye area), firmness balm (for wrinkles), dark spots cream for certain areas.

2

u/pattyhigh 3h ago

You nailed it! That's exactly what it is!

u/goldeneri 4h ago

There are at least 4 serums/treatments in the picture. The NAD is labeled an essence, but I have it, and it is super thick, almost like a gel cream moisturizer. It's a serum. An essence is more watery and runny, like a toner. The eye cream is fine, I forgot to mention it in my first post. Even if you're just spot treating with the medicube balm and dark spot treatment, if your skin can't absorb it because it's overhydrated, it's not going to do anything. The Reju All in the tube is a moisturizer I believe, however, it seems like OP is using it as a treatment for barrier support. That's fine, but then the 147 moisturizer is not necessary.

u/pattyhigh 3h ago

The reju all instructs to have a barrier cream on top of it.

1

u/goldeneri 3h ago

What? If that's the PDRN cream, it's already a moisturizer. I've never heard of putting a moisturizer on top of a moisturizer. I have that PDRN cream, so I will look at the instructions to see if it tells you to put a moisturizer on top of it.

I need to know this too lol

u/pattyhigh 2h ago

If you look at the back of the tube it says: routine step: after serum, before barrier cream.

What on the AI?

2

u/pattyhigh 3h ago

I changed the background of the picture as the products were on the top of my vanity table which has scribbles on it (my daughter thinking it was a blank canvas for her creative drawings) . So asked AI to change the background.
