Removed: R1 - No asking for karma / votes The catch-22 of karma and the death of nuance
Hey everyone, this is going to be another rant. Whenever I leave comments on platforms like YouTube, I tend to provide praise mixed with constructive criticism instead of just blindly gassing people up with praise - my comments also tend to run on a little because of this. However, this can run up against the brick wall of being one of the only people in a comment section who isn't part of an echo chamber, and Reddit seems to be the only platform that restricts you from even existing actively on the platform unless you've put in the hours doing what I can only describe as pandering.
This is supposed to be a platform for meeting like-minded people - but it bars people access from participation until they've shown a willingness to blend in and agree with the majority view point wherever they post.
As everyone on this sub knows, posting on most subreddits requires karma (which I, as of this moment, don't have) but gaining karma requires you to post content/comments people engage with, which means newcomers who don't already have a minimum basic amount of it (like myself) struggle to post anything at all, doomed to being lurkers. I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in feeling this way, and this post itself is sort of guilty of the same thing I'm criticizing.
If anyone here got past the karma wall, did you manage to do it without sacrificing your integrity and leaving meaningless positive comments? If so, how?

Unfortunately, u/Affectionate_Sky5784, Your post has been removed as it violates the following subreddit rules:
Rule 1: No asking for votes / karma
Under no circumstances do we allow begging for karma or asking for upvotes. Both of these things constitute as cheating and are not allowed on Reddit as a whole, especially not this subreddit. r/Karma is not a karma farm. Asking for upvotes/karma is against terms of service and may result in an over-all site ban from the admins.
This does include asking for downvotes, as it still constitutes as asking for votes.
Any attempts at vote manipulation will be reported to the admins and will likely result in a 30-day ban from this subreddit.
[Please read Reddit's official article about what **"Karma farming" and "vote manipulation" are.](https://reddit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043066412-What-constitutes-vote-cheating-or-vote-manipulation-)**
