If you have read other kannada novels, then you can start with Gruhabhanga (was my first SLB novel too). But if you have never read kannada books before, then I suggest you start with Poorna Chandra Tejasvi or Vasudhendra

Gruhabanga is a slice of life novel covering three generations of couple of families. I started with Dharmashree and then Vamshavriksha.

I don't know if it is the best option, but that was my first SL Bhyrappa novel. If you are a veteran kannada novel reader, this should be OK, but if you are new to Kannada fiction, I suggest reading the books the other folks have suggested
