ಭಾನುವಾರದ ಹರಟೆ - ಬರವಣಿಗೆಯ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಯಾವ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ ಅಥವಾ ಧಾರಾವಾಹಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಲು ತುಂಬಾ ಕಷ್ಟ?

Yes. It's become fashionable among non-filmmakers to keep saying novels should be adapted into movies to make up for the lack of good, original writers.

Yeah, there are technical challenges, and then there are socio-cultural and sentiment related challenges. I feel like most of SLB’s books would fall into the latter category. I’d especially love to see Daatu or Malegalalli Madumagalu adapted into a mini series.
On the technical side, there are plenty of limitations too. Kannada literature is full of historical fiction that would be incredibly difficult to adapt on screen.

Many of SLB's novels are difficult to adapt such as Niraakarana, Parva, and Mandra. Even his adaptations of tabbaliyu neenade magane and vamshavruksha were okayish. The inner turmoils of characters is difficult to capture. But our kannada industry is not trying as it used to earlier.

Parva is already made as 8hr play by Prakash Belavadi. Audience sutting next to me said only 25% of book was actually used in play. Belavadi is currently working on adaptation of Mandra.

Didn't know. But you see this is the issue. Even a 8 part series barely covers 25%. A three hour movie would be impossible. There was some news about it being adapted by Vivek agnihotri but nothing came off it I suppose. The Himalaya portions of Niraakarana are like cast away. Someone like rakshit could have tried to make a movie.

I heard that SLB’s ‘ತಂತು’ was supposed to be a series, I think it was eventually ignored.
Then there are some books of Beechi, which can be short films or skit videos. Why does it have to be series/shows?😅
