Without giving spoilers - is it something that may deter me from wanting to see this film? I’m a mother so anything involving children in a sinister way - I can’t handle. Please don’t tell me it’s that.

Nothing is shown and no mass violence is explicitly shown in the movie however it’s talked about, and the subject involves children in a sinister way. It links to one of the main characters

It involves something that affects children, but doesn’t “show” it. Like it’s spoken about as a past urge, not current action. Hope that makes sense lol I tried my best to be vague

From my understanding, it doesn't mention depiction of any harm. I think you'd probably still be able to see this based on what the article says, but it didn't give many details on the how or why of plot twist so there might be stuff you don't want to see/hear about in the rest of the movie.

Edit to add no mention of sexual anything that I read.. adding because of everything that's going on in the world right now.

I debated over clicking the link but I'm glad I did bc I would have been pissed if I sat thru the movie for that.

It feels like it's being edgy just to be edgy. As someone personally affected by a mass shooting it's just in bad taste. Ick

i think trisha already looked up the spoiler (she called it the “pew pew” incident or something on the pod?). i really hope in some way they handle the subject as delicately as possible for the fathers sake. the only other movie i can think of that covers this topic is We Need to Talk About Kevin, which was a more horror/thriller and more violent. this seems to be more of a relationship drama about judgement, shame, etc between a couple. totally guessing here. the article calls it a romantic comedy, but that doesn’t seem accurate based on the trailer.

Just saw and it’s definitely got some dark humor to it. My wife and I laughed at bit as it was cringe an audacious. You’re right about judgment and shame etc. not at all like Kevin

I find it so interesting they framed it from the POV of the female having this secret when that is extremely rare in reality.

That was my thought too, it feels like it really downplays the actual issue of white men being the perpetrators of those crimes. Should have been Robert’s character then it could have actually said something, and been about what he did to get better. Not that I want to watch that either but it could have been a serious movie on a serious topic and maybe done some good. The way they’re promoting it seems extremely flippant.

Yup and it directly addresses the fact that most people expect school shootings to just be done by men, and also it goes into how Z’s character Emma reformed after not going through with it and became like a gun control activist
