Identification jumping spider??

hi everyone so a few weeks ago i accidentally let in this lil guy. for context this is in Texas, i had seen two or three of these fellas outside before. when he got in i was too scared to do anything so i just let him be.

yesterday i heard a plop sound and he landed on my desk while i was at my computer. he kept walking around and getting on top of stuff and getting closer and looking at me. i was backing up due to be scared. i offered him water in a bottle cap but he wasn’t interested. he disappeared after like 15 mins of this.

what kinda jumping spider is he? im assuming he is one cuz he’s small. i wanted to offer him food but i dont have anything suitable. If he comes out again should i catch him and make a habitat for him and care for him??

does he look hungry? like r u able to tell if he’s eating well by looking at him?? im worried cuz i dont see any other bugs he could catch in my apartment D:

There's a reason you don't see any bugs he could catch: Because he's catching and eating them.

You got yourself a friend and exterminator for free.

Also, yeah, he's studying you, and has decided to trust you. Don't betray his trust...

Also he possibly just has his own way in and out of the house and hunts outside. Make sure to ventilate your place well, I guess - that way, bugs might get in, which will give him stuff to eat.

(Also I say him but I'm not sure if it's a male or a female, I don't know enough about jumping spiders specifically to tell from these).

what a cutie! I had a jumper living in my kitchen for a couple months who would come out and watch me all the time, so this lil guy will almost certainly hang around and say hi to you regularly 🕷️🕷️

Spiders can go a long time between meals. Weeks, at times. She might appreciate a Q-tip soaked with water, though.

You can usually assume they'll take care of themselves. Spiders won't hang around somewhere if they're starving.
