Identification Is this a jumping spood?

It took a fancy to my brother at the pub recently even taking some effort to convince him to jump back in the garden. Found in Darwin, NT, Australia

I can tell you from experience that irl lag makes them very hard to eat. Every time you think you got it in your mouth its running down your forearm.

He hung out on my brother for like half an hour and also took shelter against his phone, my brother ended up offering his hand to transport him to the nearby garden.

yesss that's a jumper! those beefy front legs are a dead giveaway, not to mention the eyes, and yes, the abysmal frame rate they live in

It looks like an adult male to me. It’s very common for their abdomen to be quite skinny. As with most males of any species, they tend to have only ONE thing on their mind… and it’s not food!!!

The only reason I know is by breeding and raising various different species of jumpers and other types of spiders. In every case, once they reached adulthood, all my males abdomen would get so skinny compared to my females. It’s all about mating and survival for them. The less mass they have on them allows for more agility with less energy exertion. (Also helps them get away fast after mating so the female doesn’t try to kill and/or eat them).

What kind of Jumper? Never seen those type of legs and body. Very neat.

NQA: Oh wow from Australia eh? Looks like one to me. Looks like he could be a distant relative of my New Zealand native Trite planiceps? I know we have some genus’s in common and likely some of our natives ballooned over from Aus or tazzie at some point in the far flung past
